I have a Nitro stampede and get plenty of fun out of it but recently I talked a friend of mine into getting his first rc. I tried to tell him to get something small but he went out and bought a new T-maxx 3.3 . It worked out for him and its one badass truck but he runs circles around my stampede. Today I was in my lhs and seen one of these http://www.rccaraction.com/ME2/dirm...0&tier=3&nid=01FF4FD29872433DA6E17539B4509205
. A MGT 3.0 from Team Associated. They want 300 for it. Just wanted to know if it compares to the t-max 3.3 and if its a good truck in general. Looked really sharp but I don't have any experience with TA and didn' want to buy a lemon. My lhs also has a t-maxx classic 2.5 for sale for 479 and I know thats waaay too high. Its new in box but not worth that much. Im tired of him running circles around me and don't want to copy his truck but i dont want to spend as much as he has. Your opinions and advice are welcome"thumbsup"

It all depends on what type of terrain you guys are running on. If he's beating you in a straight line all the time, I'd just upgrade your motor. If he's spanking you because he has 4wd, then I'd check out HPI's MT2SS , they are fast and tough. If you want something bigger ( but more$$$$) and have the cash to spend I'd get a LST2 that's the badest I have owned so far. I'm sure there's better now, but I'm just giving you my experience. I have owned a revo, LST2, andstill own a MT2SS I love all but the revo (POS) Associated makes pretty good cars, but If you want to you can also check out the BID MGT form them

Well I was only flirting with getting it but I found one new in box on ebay with free shipping and bought it for 214. Sure beats the 300 my lhs was asking. I know its bad i didn't support my lhs on this one but come on really an 85dollar difference i'm not gonna pass up. Also what fuel have you found to work good in this. So far the only fuel I have used is traxxas 20% for my .15pro and .15os and its worked great. should work fine in this but I dont know as much as I would like to. Perfect time to get it right at the beginning of summer;-)

Holy Cow! My mgt 3.0 came in and I ran through the break in yesterday. Today I really got out to tune it and do a little bashing. A friend of mine and I went to a local BMX track to see what our trucks were made of. He has $1000 in a new 3.3 t-maxx with revo tires. I like my nitro to always run on the rich side so I never got that last 4 or 5 mph out of it but where the hell has this truck been hiding?? This will absolutely light up all 4 on dry pavement, is a beast in the dirt, and stayed neck and neck with my friends t-maxx all day. He was pretty heated that my $214 seems to be just as good as his $1000+ with too many aftermarket parts to list. As for toughness? I give this MGT a 8.5 out of 10. I was going all of 35 into a jump that went wrong and ended up in one of those nightmare rolls with the tires jamming into the ground end over end where you just know that doing that was a bad idea. Result- one slightly bent link in the rear that I bent back with my hand. I did a few nosedives from 6ft to 12ft+ in the air and did end up breaking part of the front bumper but I just tied it up and it took a beating for another couple hours. Took it home tonight to check it over and havent found anything else broken just dusty. By the end of the day my friend snapped his motor connecting rod because he was trying to lean it out so much to prove his truck was better. I warned him. Anyway now he says since his motor needs replaced he is going to get a much bigger one. Thats another $300 tacked on to his truck if he does. I don't care because all mines costed is 214 shipped and some batteries and gas. I was nice though after he determined his was out of commission i let him run my nitro pede around lol."thumbsup"
