Thinking of going 1/5 scale

I've been thinking of going large scale for a while. I love my 1/8 Erevo but it's not quite big enough and the drivetrain is too fragile for the brushless setup I have in it (makes the MMM on 6s look mellow). I'm breaking diffs or driveshafts just about every run while babying it on 4s. Looking for more big and more durable. I can do speed runs with the Erevo when I need to go stupidly fast so it doesnt need to be a speed demon.

Any of you folks run large scale? Any recommendations? I like the look of the Losi 5T and the HPI 1/5 SCT looks promising.

I'm not interested in the xmaxx. The aarma is interesting but it is 8+ inches shorter than the Losi which is a lot!

Not sure if I want to stay electric or go gas.

Any comments, suggestions, input?

I'm excited following this post if bigger rigs wont break as often and fixing is just more expensive. Heavier rig, higher speed should mean more load on the components. They wont be that tiny, that's for sure. We'll find out ;-)

I don't have either...yet...but, from what I've read, and from videos I've watched, two you should seriously consider are the Traxxas UDR, and the Lost DBXL-E 2.0 (especially the DBXL-E 2.0). Both are known to be extra durable, and both have a considerable selection of aftermarket parts available (again, especially the DBXL-E 2.0, on both points). Be sure to check out Vitavon Racing (through Facebook, and their store on eBay), which produces incredibly outstanding machined aluminum parts for both.

Having a Losi Super Baja Rey 2.0, my only suggestion is to find out what parts break the most, and make sure to see if anyone has them in stock. Downtime due to easily broken parts that aren’t in stock anywhere for months is frustrating. Vehicles this size are a lot of fun, though.

The DBXL looks good but I've been soured on open wheel RCs since I tend to break more stuff with them when they tumble and rip the arms apart.

The UDR doesn't blow my skirt up.

I'm reading the DBXL needs a lot of little things out of the box vs the 5ive T is solid.
