Tire/foam, the over asked question

That's for a pair. I finally spent that for a whole set on my Yeti with rock beast2s and it made a massive difference. It was hard for me to justify spending that on tire foams, but after seeing the difference I'd do it again.

So 17 plus shipping for a pair? I thought it was per tire, if it's for a pair then that I can do without worry

Am I the only person who thinks the whole tire foam science is way overrated? As long as there is adequate sidewall support for side hilling and as long as your RC isn't crushing the foams or isn't too light to compress them at all I've never noticed much of a difference between foams.

Foams can't save bad tires.

Nope can't make junk good "thumbsup""thumbsup"

BUT a set of quality foams will make an average tire outstanding and a good tire better.
Biggest thing I've found with CI foams vs bully or proline IS sidewall support, my comp crawler now can go where it couldn't before I dropped in the CI DD foams.

I think they are a bit overrated but I hate taking wheels apart any times more than necessary. Lot of screws in beadlocks. I found something that works good and is ready to rock straight out of the package. I am paying partly for convenience. In the past I cut my own foams and made two stage and star cut , bowl cut, perforated even lol. This does good in my and many other experienced guys opinions enough to justify the price.

Crawling at locations with overhangs and sharp angled rocks a conventional stock foam can and will 'walk' underneath and bind up. I have a spot I frequent and this happened a lot. So I got a set of the CI Dual Stage and this didn't happen again.

I don't know.. My personal feeling is that CI Deuce's Wild actually are as great as they say.. They have made a big difference for me, at least..

What are you running the Deuce's Wild in? What's your rig? And what do you do with your rig? Like bash, crawl, hill climb, etc.

This is the best analogy I can think of to describe a stock foam on a awesome tire like a PBRB2 vs CI foams.

Go let out all the air in your tires and drive anywhere you like for let's say 10miles. That is a stock foam.

Now fill up your tires with air and do the same thing. See the difference in suspension, wheel feel, turning radius, brakes, cornering, reversing and your mental state? That is a CI foam.

Worth every cent IMO.

What do you guys so about venting the tires? I've heard both ways that one, it won't matter, but on the other hand that it makes a world of difference. With the double dueces, wouldn't water getting inside ruin the outside layer of foam??

I take 1/8in copper rod aka wire hangar, Heat the end to red hot and make 3 evenly spaced holes on the outside carcass. In between treads. Running it normal slings moisture right back out. Doesn't hurt the tires integrity.

I don't run mine in water and vent the wheels. Takes some fun away but I don't like cleaning them more than I like getting them dirty. My 1:1 Toyota on the other hands gets dirty.

I have deuce's wild in many tires :D Rock Beasts, TSL XL, Growlers, Mad Beasts, BFG Krawler, Ripsaws, Duratrax Showdown. I run two fairly heavy scx10s. Mostly for forest trails, a bit of bashing and also some crawling on rocks. I want them to be good all-rounders. Especially with Pitbull and proline the rubber grip is so good that the hard foam still works great for rock crawling. And with a firm foam like this, the (heavy) rig doesn't flip over when sidehilling or when all the weight is transferred to the rear tires on steep crawls. And they are perfect for wet woods because they press water out of the vented tires and they don't soak water. I would recommend them even on lighter rigs. But that is is my personal preference. Favorite combination is Tsl xl with the corresponding deuce's wild and Pitbull mad beast with the corresponding deuce's wild.

Did you alter the foams any? Also do you think that the tall would be too tall for the normal tsl? They're right at about 5.5 inches, maybe 5.4.. would the normal deuce's fill them out nicely?

Ah, I only have the 1.9 versions, but I guess the effect should be the same.

Thank you to all of the CI customers who have responded in this thread. "thumbsup"

My mission with Crawler Innovations has always been to help people enjoy RC to its full potential. I am thankful for the job I created for myself and that the products created, do in fact greatly improve performance. Our customer reviews and long line of champions using our products prove it.

I don't think people realize that Proline foams have always costed more than Crawler Innovations. And that goes for their current line of Crawler Innovations inspired designs they now sell.

Although I created each foam design with an intended use, that doesn't mean that is its only use. The RC Community is simple a microcosm of humanity and obviously people are going to have different ideas about performance and what works for them. Hence the reason for competition and to test ideas out.

All CI foams are sold in pairs, just like all RC tires.

If you want to get the most out of your rig you need the proper foam.
