So I was looking at some cool Unimog builds the other day using the MRC and Bruder bodies and I started looking around at the Bruder website and realized that my son had an old Tonka truck that might fit the bill. A few holes and a couple of screws and I had this. I kind of like the look, was thinking of doing a flat bad or wooden slat sides (i.e. the reason for the popsicle sticks). The other idea I've been tossing around is to try my hand at styrene and box the back off so it would look like one of the MAN rally trucks. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I hacked up the back of the recycle truck to see what it would look like with a boxed in rear end. I'm liking it. This is just a tester to see what a closed in rear would look like, it's way too heavy, the suspension is about 2/3 compressed just sitting there. Although it does have a cool pop open hatch on the rear. I could pack chips and a drink in there when I went crawling.

I would go with the Paris-Dakaar rally look. Working with styrene is quite simple. I have used it to make a visor for my F350, it is 4 pieces, and it was very easy. Use Tenax-7r for bonding the styrene, it's the best stuff out there.

Thanks guys. I really like the way the cab looks. I'm going to try and go out and find some sheets of styrene tomorrow and start working on the back. Although, it's supposed to be like 65 here so I may have to just go crawl somewhere.

Hence the reason for the thread title. It is somewhat moggish (if that can be said). It also reminds of the MAN trucks. My camera's dead right now, but I'll try to get up some more pics shortly. I mounted the cab more securely and relocated the shocks out onto the aluminum frame that I built for a more scale look. Still haven't located any styrene locally so I haven't made any progress on the back. I'm out of town for work for a bit, so probably won't do much for a week or so.
