Tool Organizing - Drawers in the tool chest

I have several Hansen socket holders and have been picking up magnetic holders from Lowe's to store all the extras. These are old pics of the socket drawer. It's much neater now. Might have to get updated pics.

For the most part, Inch on the left, Metric on the right.

I made this for the ratchets that I use. 1/2" ply with holes drilled for the drive head then covered with drawer liner foam. The spare ratchets are on the left with the extensions. I put the adapters with the ratchets.

Finished the ratchet drawer today. Made the tool holder from aluminum sheet, extruded aluminum, and some short 1/8" aluminum rivets. Made another holder for the spare ratchets and put all of the extensions and universals on a socket holder.

Not hard to do, just have to make yourself do it.

I've been wanting some of those socket holders, almost picked them up at sear the other day, but damn they are expensive.

Like $20 a piece, and you need a minimum of 6 of them. 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 for each SAE+metric.

They're expensive because they're worth it.

Seriously though - I waited and caught them on sale. Same thing I do with most all of my Craftsman tools. Wait until it's on sale.

I just did some looking online, and found them for about half the price sears has them.

$60 for a full set shipped.

If I'm not completely off my rocker...I believe I bought my set of those organizers for $7 a piece at Sears around Christmas or some other holiday where they were on sale.

They are worth every penny! I used to use the rail clips mounted to a piece of masonite to organize sockets, but I saw those holders at spring Carlisle ( a huge car show) a few years ago and purchased them, nothing like looking at the holders to see which sockets are still buried somewhere in the truck.

Working on the file sets now. Small precision files are done. Bigger stuff is next.

Looking good man! Looks alot like the main drawer of my tool box, nice and neat. I never could understand how most of the guys I worked with had a 4:30 drawer.

Wow... that is rediclous. I use these.

They may not look as fancy, but IMO they are ALOT more functional. They are not near as fragile, and its really nice that you can grab the entire set of sockets and crawl under a car knowing you will have the right socket. The price is quite nice too. I bet i have 6 or 7 sticks of sockets on those things!
