No, but things have changed a lot since 2009. And I'm not saying anything is wrong with it either. I was just asking based on this post from JRH in a build thread.
"Would you be interested in a BR mini that was built like a little airplane ESC? With the new hardware they run cool as a cucumber, and we are thinking about building up some with 13g leads, waterproofed, and heatshrunk. Seems like it would be useful on a scaler, easy to hide."
I was Just wondering if this ever caught traction. That's it.
Alright. And they've not really changed all that much since 2009. And realize he never mentioned a case and heatsink. Wires are the heatsink. Just like Tekin's posts and wire heatsinks.
Unless Castle starts making a smaller Sidewinder, it (the BRXL) will be the size it is.

The Br mini can hang in my comp rigs that get run hours at a time and for days straight. I haven't had one fail, me, since they came out.
The newest batch are supposed to run cooler and have more power.
They are small enough that you can hide them or place them anywhere.
I'm pretty sure you can ask to have them waterproofed/conformal coated, as well.
So a case, can be anything you put it in. That should keep it from dirt and mud. Conformal coating should keep it from water.
I don't speak for JRH, the above is my experience and ideal's on it.
EDIT: heatshrunk isn't heat sink..

Yes, yes it does!Does the Castle Link Software still link to these ESC's? I plug mine in and it doesn't seem to be recognized. Sorry to bring an old thread back to life.

Are the waterproof versions just out of stock, or are they no longer being made?
Just out of stock. We only sell them when we have em waterproofed and packaged . I couldn't quite order fast enough from the last batch, so we are down to the last BRXL regulars as well. Should be shipping from Castle any day, and we have 6 liters of waterproofing material ready to use.

i have a couple of your homes brushless escs...my question concerns waterproofing,...one is water proofed from you guys, one i didnt order it that way. may i ask what you use to waterproof? ive read and seen so many methods but id rather use what u use if its ok to find out. u can pm me cause i might miss it
We use an industrial silicon conformal from Dow Corning . If you aren't a manufacturer, you won't be able to buy it. MG chemicals makes one you can purchase.
ok thank you guys...i do love the speed controls and motors, i was a novak fan for a long time and i thought i knew what smooth was...until the holmes brushless setup...then found out it got smoother with your brushed 13t...awesome stuff..
Not just no, but hell no. it is the worst product out there for waterproofing. It doesn't adhere to the surface of anything (product feature: easily removable) and water will wick between the plastic and PCB. Typical failure point is where the wires go through the plastidip, and also within the wires themself. Wires flex and pull away from the plastic (easily removable product= easy failure point). Wires also wick in water, and when the ESC cools down it pulls moisture inside.

so question, just installed a brand new BRXL (waterproof) and a (used by me) Crawlmaster 12t motor.
The motor was good out of the rig I took it from, but now just sitting there it makes a noise sitting still if I activate Holmes hold, best I can describe it as a clucking chicken. If I turn off the hold and set normal drag brake, its fine.
Any ideas?
Edit* I also hooked up a crawlmaster and a trinity monster motor I still had new in the package and they all so the same thing. not installed in the truck, the motor jumps at rest with the Holmes Hold on
Second edit** never mind, I must be an idiot and have never actually turned on Holmes hold on my brushed controllers, i just checked three ESCs, two were not activated, and when I did they all did the same thing. Apparently I have gotten used to brushless...

I have (among other HH combos) that set up and personally I like 3S, I think it is a good compromise..
Capacity..? Well depends also on the weight ur looking at, I think 2.2 mAh (min 30C) does a good job but again this is up to ur own needs..and driving style ref to run time ...

I would like to ask 2 questions…
1- setup TM35T Expert (0 degree timing), BRXL, 3S. If I want to change the motor CW/CCW rotation, I seem not to find the parameter in the CC Link setup. Can I just swap the motor leads to the ESC?
2- While setting the BRXL ESC with the motor the first time, all went fine.
Then I realised I had to invert the motor rotation, so tried to swap the leads. Also tried to invert the setting into my TX and now I have the following problem:
If I have the radio on, connect the battery, the esc will only show steady green light, but it does not operate. To make it work I first have to connect the battery, then switch on radio while pushing the throttle to max, then the ESC will react.. and work properly… When disconnecting the battery I will have to do all again.. Any suggestion/idea?
How can I re-set the ESC to standard setting and needing re-do the calibration process from zero?
