Hi,
I have a WK that I want to beef up. I am looking for new wheel and tires. But the more I read the more I am confused.

How come most crawlers have narrow wheels (eg. compare to stock WK wheels). Is it because of better performance or for a scaled look?

What is beadlock, is it a whole system (rim + ring + screws) or you an just buy the ring and slap it on any rim.

Ppl talking about offseting, is it making the car width narrower or wider.

Sorry, but most ppl chatting on this fourm are pro. I live in canada and LHS are helpless. And not many ppl play this around here.

Anyway, please give a suggestion on which brand I should buy if you can. I can't spend that much though.

Thanks.

beadlocks lock the tire to the rim instead of gluing them on a non-beadlock wheel....there narrow to roll more of the tread to the side wall of the tire for more grip, thats my thinking anyway.................bob

....

for comp. crawling people perf. narrower tires....makes truck narrower to go through gates

and you q? about ofcentering wheels same reason........or oppisite make wider to put larger tires on so that tires do rub on frame axels etc

hope this helps you out

No. You run a narrow wheel to put more contact pressure on the part of the tire that is touching the rock surface.

Yes and no.

The offset IS mostly used fo making the truck wider/narrower but can also have other effects like scrub radius and such.

Almost all beadlocks that are produced are good wheels. I personally like the MSD/Ericson wheels. They are a little pricey but they are VERY nice. You have to buy a beadlock wheel to have "Beadlocks". You can't just slap some rings on and hope for the best.

A nice less expensive alternative is either the Proline 8 shooters or the Axial BL's. Hope this helped clear things up.
