Question: is it possible to have more stroke on the steering wheel ?

The steering wheel is only moving 20 degrees left and right and i would realy like it to move more for better control.

What are the possibilities ? Grind the limiting stoppers ?.....no... replace the pot control ? What model ?

Let me know

Yes, you can modify a TQ2/3 for more steering range.

Bingo - you answered your own question!

If you pop the "cap" off the center of the wheel you'll see the screw that holds the wheel to the shaft. Remove the screw and wiggle the wheel off the shaft.

Then look at the inside of the wheel where it mates with the case, you'll see there are stops built into both the wheel and the case to limit the range of motion of the wheel. Removing material from the stops on the wheel will give it more range of motion, and hence will make the servo throw a bit farther. I used a sharp hobby knife.

Don't over-do it, it's best to trim a little, re-assemble it, and test the results. It's easy to remove a little more, difficult to add it back if you go too far. You can also over-do it as far as your steering linkage is concerned, if the servo throws farther than the links will move you'll end up breaking a link, or a knuckle, or a servo mount or horn, or with a cheap servo you'll blow the gears. I removed about an 1/8th inch from each side.

Thanks for great info, i will trim it and will probably check at the electronic shop for a better potentiothing. I will let you know if i find a good stering device.

The trimming is done on the TQ3 stops. The result is perfect, more throws on the servo, aprox 160 degrees(5990TG). I used a shorter servo horn(.560") , wich mean LOTS of torque and extra protection for the internal gears.

Everyone should do this modification !!"thumbsup"

The "servo stretcher" sounds great if you are comfortable with the poor 20 degrees sterring range on the transmiter:???:

Just hacked away at my Tx and now I have max steering. :)
Like anything else, if you pay attention to what your doing you'll pass the smoke test.

I did the trimming bit on my axial radio with great results as well. Very good free mod IMO. As was mentioned before though, don't trim away more than than you need to.
