Would a traction formula be a positive thing to use on a crawler? Has anybody ever used them?

I guess you would rocks without much dirt on them, which depending where you live may be hard to find. If on dirty rocks it will give less grip.

But can you have too much grip? I'm not too sure if having too much grip would be an issue, nor am I sure how. But I have heard that it can be a bad thing or not......

I'd like to hear from people who have used it on their crawlers. I think most of the places I crawl at have too much dirt around for it to be useful for me but if I found somewhere then I will definitely try it.

I don't use traction compound on crawler tires.
Most of us just wash the tires using liquid soap or Simple Green (a spray on cleaner) and let dry. You could mist the tires after dry with some more Simple Green and let dry, they will be very tacky.

You summed it up. Traction compounds are great for super clean rocks but those situations are rare. I like to clean with simple green but I don't leave it on. Dried simple green on tires can be a terrible thing when you hit some water.

Oil of wintergreen works good for slotcar tires, never tried it on crawler or any other RC tires. You can buy it at a good drugstore. Anybody tried this on RC tires especially crawler tires?

try a little motor spray. it works in off road. it softens them but doesn't make them sticky. it's said to effect the foams after awhile but i really never believed that.

Be careful about making the tires too sticky. They'll pick up dust, and then they don't have much traction at all.

I used some typical RC traction sauce before an indoor comp one time. I'll never do that again.
