Trail Finder 2 with Wraith Axles?

I'm not trying to compare to the Scx10 we all know it can out perform the tf2. But if you're going to zone in on the yota body with ar60sa under it. What's the difference between the scx10 with the yota body and ar60s, verse the tf2 with the yota body and ar60s. The scx10 looks good, but the tf2 with the same body and axles won't?
A real truck doesn't have the suspension setup as the scx10. So putting full widths under the tf2 would be more scale, than the scx10 with full widths.

The SCX10 can handle 2.2 series tires and AR60 axles... The stock TF2 components probably wont.

The SCX10 [Honcho] has a wider cab than the TF2 does. That's why you see more people do the Wroncho conversion. Because it looks more natural.

A real 1:1 truck doesn't have the same suspension setup as a SCX10..... Have you ever heard of 3 link with panhard or 4 link (radius arms) and coilovers? How do you think Axial and other brands got the inspiration for their own products? Because the 1:1 world had links and radius arms.

The 4 link with the servo on the axle is the same concept as what the KOH buggies and Rockbouncer buggies have, except they use a double ended hydro ram to steer.

Are you talking about the transmission and transfer case? The stock gears can't handle full widths, I wouldn't be running 2.2s.
As for the scx10 not being a realistic setup.. I was referring to the way the motor and transmission are set up with the suspension. The scx10 has a belly pan with the motor/ transmission on top. Where the tf2 have a transfer case connected to the transmission with a drive shaft then the motor is in front. And the link all connect to the chassis which is more realistic.
It would be cool if someone actually made radius arms for crawlers, I've never seen any.
This conversation is getting side tracked though..
If it all comes down to it not looking "scale" by opinion, then it's a never ending conversation.

Like a previous poster already said, just do it and take lots of pictures. I'm curious to see the end result, even though its not my cup of tea. "thumbsup"

Agreed. Though you might not have the support you must have the nards to try it. I think that what most people are saying is that the tf2/ yota body would not look good to them with that wide of an axle. Most of the guys in this section are into scale looks and don't believe that an axle so wide on this body would look real regardless of the chassis under it. They would be so wide the whole wheel and some axle would protrude from the fender. I've never seen such a truck in real life nor would I want to.
That being said do what makes you happy and if I can help shoot out some questions. I happen to have 2 tf2's and a wraith so I might be able to take some measurements or some pics if you need it to get started.

I've been a 1:1 Toyota guy for 15 years. I saw the rc4wd vender booth at koh last week and just ordered my tf2. I haven't received the kit yet and I'm already looking at full width options. xBLAKEx go for it, the full width mod in 1:1 was the most popular mod besides dual cases before cromo birfs ( long field ) came along, and still is an awesome mod. Some of you scalers are way over thinking it. The tf2's suspention is not modeled after a show room 83 pickup, butt a crawler and should be modified like a 1:1. I can't wait to get my tf2 and see what it does.

I bought the AX10's Currie axles for my TF2, works pretty well: 4 links front and leaf set-up in the rear, it's already wider than the stock axles. With proper wheel wideners I'm sure you'll get a good compromise and also would be able to keep the 1.9s.

Been really busy lately, and haven't spent much time on my tf2. Though I am still going to be throwing the vp Currie wraith axles underneath with a custom 3link/4link setup.

Gart: I'd like to see what you do if you go full widths!!

Utieh: Do you like your setup still?

You are going with curries? That seems like a huge investment to start without knowing how it will work / perform.

If you look in the wraith picture section on here there's a couple of wraiths with hilux shells on, bobbed etc and they look good.

I too couldn't justify the investment in a TF2 to turn it into a wraith BUT see no harm in anybody else wanting to do it.

Simply google wraith hilux and there's plenty of pictures, some uber cool ones but some pretty dire ones too.

Go for it I say!

As for the point of SCX10's outperforming TF2's naaaaaahhhhhhhh well not within class 1 rules anyway."thumbsup"

Did this ever get done i wanted the blackwell x1s till i found they are only 1mm wider then the yota cast axles. Is thereca semi axle that can be used. I too want the 1 ton/2 1/2 ton scale width axle for under my tf2.
