Tralfaz Blecht's SCX10II - Evolution of a First RC Crawler

And here's how it stands at the 3 month mark, pun intended. I'm sure you guys have a name for this mandatory pose. What's is called? And yeah, the rear tire is 3/8" of the table. Not bad for 90mm shocks on a beer can though.

I installed the 90mm Desert Lizards I got and I actually knew that for this set of shocks that there was some preparation required. I have bought and complained about the 100mm King shocks I have but I just opened the packages and bolted them on. So I'm not going to knock those since most of my issues were from my own ignorance. I really just wanted to go back to 90mm and I ended up with a good set-up and I really like the stance again.

All of my shocks so far have been pretty squishy and my lack of knowledge in the shock department meant I got used to it. The Desert Lizards seemed a bit stiff at first but I'm starting to think that the set-up is closer to medium. I like it. Still learning.

My mirrors lasted about an hour. I'm done with those too. Kind of...

I'm going to use them when I get back to shooting video, bit I'll leave them off for everyday bashing. I don't try to abuse my rigs, but I like the freedom of not giving a damn if it rolls down a mountain. Which it does. A lot.

I made sure that I could still run the original body. I have magnets on the body posts for the Hilux body, but there is enough post sticking out to put the clips through for the old Van Halen body. Panama!

Love the orange Lizards btw.

So, I've got this going on next. I got these in a few weeks ago for my new Honcho but I'm sticking them on ole #1. Gotta do it. They're too cool. I'll have to get more for the next one.

I am very impressed with these Rock Jocks. The SCX10II AR44 parts all popped right in and they were fun to build. I still have to install them so I haven't driven them yet. Nice job, Vanquish.

I did a lot of yard bashing today and with the new 90mm Desert Lizard shocks I have a much better stance and better handling all around. I got a new Venom 3s battery that is no heavier than the 2s I've mostly been running and now this truck acts more a true trail truck and it handles and corners pretty damn good at high speed. Don't get me wrong, you have to try your best not to roll it, but I had a line in the backyard I kept running and it's not bad at all.

I'm finding my place preference wise between scaler/basher/crawler/trail-truck etc. Fun stuff.

Rock Jocks and Incision driveshafts. Awesome stuff, looks great. I hope it stands up to my abuse. I don't think it matters from a technical stand point, but I'm wondering if my driveshafts are backwards or not. I flipped them both ways before installing and I though this looked right... I think.

It looks pretty gross in this pic. I was raining all day so it got pretty crudded up driving it around the yard. Most rinsed off in a big puddle but wet grass is a pain.

Then there is this hideous thing...

It's my new Honcho that will be my next project. The body is pretty much a throw-away so I cheesed it up. The body will be for bashing so it's just a quickie spray job of some ugly camel yellow. This thing looks like the banana pudding mobile. I love banana pudding but this paint job is nauseating! Anyhow, I just trimmed the camo off of the decals and carved a swoop out of the hood decal and did a two tone paint job for that sexy banana and vanilla look. :lmao:

It's not worth it's own thread until I really start working on a new body so I'll just cram some more crap into this thread.

I thought this was a decent hack of the hood decal...

I like how the truck sits. I also am digging the yellow and black!

I'm glad somebody likes it even if they do have banana in their name. "thumbsup"

The stance on the yellow thing is 100% stock SCX10II Honcho. I've done nothing aside from a wheel swap.

Update here and a bit of Kudos to my Holmes Hobbies Trail Master Sport 550 21t motor. We went out to Hurricane Shoals Park in GA and I found a sandy, muddy, watery, rocky, Honcho Heaven.

I installed the motor that I'm still running today back in early March. I've bashed it to hell up and down Stone Mountain, hot-dogged it at the beach, and I've always been a puddle addict with it.

Sunday I submarined it many times in water ranging from moving clean and clear to soupy thick mud. At one point I thought I killed it when I plowed through a green algae sludge and it seized up. I couldn't turn the wheels due to them being on the wrong end of the gears. I removed the motor on a picnic table and found it full of the stringy algae mess. I was able to turn the pinion. I left the motor dangling from the leads and took it to a section of nice clean water. I hit full throttle and it shot a nice rooster tail up in the air and I was back in business.

I know that I will eventually destroy it with the abuse I give it, but for a $20.00 motor it's a winner.
