I'm hoping you guys might have some suggestions for me. I just bought my 3 year old son his first crawler, a Losi MRC. Now I'm looking for a transmitter for him and obviously he has small hands. So I'm looking for a radio that is small in size so he can reach the trigger, lightweight, and inexpensive... For when it hits the deck.

I bought my now 5year old son a MRC when he was 3 as well. The losi radio was a bit big for him but I ended up getting an Aarma ATX-300 for him that was absolutely perfect. He could reach the trigger, it was light and it was cheap. I have a second ATX-300 but only one receiver; and the ARX-300 receiver is the only receiver that works with it to my understanding.

That leaves me back in the market for a radio... So I turn to you hopefully for some suggestions. Thank you in advance"thumbsup"

The Tactic radio is pretty is small, I would look into that

I suppose that makes sense that they might be of similar size/design as the Aarma as Aarma and Tactic are both hobbico. Thanks again for the recommendation, I'm going to see if I can get my hands on one.

My kids use Sanwa MX-V, they both use them, they do come with waterproof receivers as well which helps.....comes with a decent price too:oops:

Been rock solid for years so far, and as kids are they are not gentle with'em:lmao:

That's funny... The mx-v was on my radar. I've had had good luck with Airtronics. I'm Glad to hear they worked for you, I appreciate the response.

Started my daughter off at 5 with a Futaba 3P-L and with a little time worked great. Little large but she got it mastered.

Yeah the 3pl is definitely too big for him at this point... And probably too nice to hit the ground repeatedly. The are hard on things... Probably a little too much like me;-)

Google Mini Acme 2.4Ghz. Sounds like something Wile E Coyote would buy, but it looks like the size your after.

My 7 year old uses an mxv for racing as it was the one he was most comfortable with. for his crawler though he uses a little remote that says basher on it, I think it's a hobby king or something. I got it in a trade, it looks just like that acme one above. only issue with it is it uses AAA BATTERIES so it goes through them faster

Both of those look like very viable options. I hadn't seen either of those yet, thank you both very much for the suggestions. I might have to buy the Acme one just cause of the name. Big Looney Tunes fans in our house;-)

That's great to hear the MX-V worked for him. How old was he when he started using it?

My 3 year old has an ECX10003 (which looks identical to the rc4wd pictured above) and it is the only tx we have that he is able to push the throttle forward/use reverse with his throttle finger. All of our other tx's require him to hold with his left hand and use his right hand to use reverse... no turning while backing up for him on a normal sized remote.

That's fantastic! That is just the info I was looking for. Thank you.. I'm going to check those out more now. Guess it would make sense that a 1/24 comes with a small radio too.

So far both my 6 year old daughter, and my 8 year old son are comfortable using the Tactic radios. They are light and fairly cheap. I use them in all my rigs that my kids and nieces/nephews use.

Thumperrc25 also suggested that as a good option. That is good to hear two votes for them. I do wonder if that will still be too big for a 3yo. I'm trying to get down to my LHS to see if they have a Spektrum/Electrix ECX10003 (RC4WD micro radio) that was suggested above for the 1/24 scale stuff. I appreciate the chime in.

I see your also building MRCs currently"thumbsup""thumbsup" I'll see you over in the MRC section!

I could see it being to big for a 3 year old.... One of my kids's friends is smaller than my daughter and he struggles just a little bit. But he is really small for his age.

When I get a chance I'd lIke to get one in his hand to try it. I have some time as his birthday isn't until May

He's only been using the Mxv for about a year. I got him it because the trigger was the only racing style radio that he could reach the trigger on. But the acme one fits his hand better
