Transmitter/receiver Question

I have aquired an Airtronics XL 2P Radio, although it is an older radio it has always been a reliable radio. However, I need to get a new reciever for it I know I can probably get a good used one on Ebay but I would like to get a new receiver. I have heard that you cannot mix certain brands and would like to know if that is true or not. I would appreciate any advice I can get. Thanks

It all depends.

Is the radio 27 or 75 MHz?

27MHz AM is very interchangable. I used my old XL 2P 75MHz with Novak receivers.

I haven't used that radio since 1990 but I do believe that I used Futaba/Hitec and Novak receivers.

Yes, for the older crystal radios, I have "mixed & matched" with reasonable success. In general though, I keep brands together.8)

When you jump to 2.4ghz, you have to be very careful even within the brand."thumbsup"

Technically it is two since Futaba and Hitec use the same signal shift.

Thanks again for all your help and input. I do use a 2.4ghz in my scale crawler but I need another radio for my tuber and I got this one at a good price, free!!

Good deal. I have some of those radios and they were good back in the day and still are for some fun bash'n. I raced rc 10's and used Novak receivers. Mine were 75 MHz.
