Well, there's enough of this build done to finally post it up here on RCC. I'm pretty new to the crawling scene and got interested in the TTC, looking forward to checking it out "thumbsup"

I really wanted to start out with an actual truck so am just opening this build up with the basics and going to move on from there. Wraith kit platform, RR tranny gears, Maxx shafts, STRC chubs and knuckles:

Pretty disappointed in Axial, missing a few things from the kit and they have been pretty pokey getting me the "Dig Lockout Shaft" which is the rear output drive. No real big deal since this is a slower build, but frustrating all the same :|

Sort of struggled with finding a body, then TURTLE advised getting the Proline Top Kick. Found one at the LHS, scoped it out, and brought it home

Couldn't find a pic of the Top Kick chassis anywhere (I speculate it's because Obama's limo has that frame under it) so am just basing the frame off of the 2011 GM HD frame:

Took a length of 1/2" square tube and marked it to about the same proportions and cut, bent, heated, brazed it up, then cut it lengthwise for c-rails and wound up with this:

Driver was planned to be our buddy Walter, I'm hoping that I can find a way to squeeze him in at some point:

I got some top links done last night, don't have a current pic though. Here's the latest I do have with the lowers (I cut the fronts about an inch shorter than they are here to pull the front axle in some):

FAR from finished but it's a pretty healthy start I think. Learning a lot, that's for sure! Thanks for looking 8)

Nice build! I really like the Top Kick body.
What HH Puller is that?
I'm running the 14t in my 2 speed TTC rig, Hera. I've been experimenting with gearing but I've settled on 11/58... at least for now.

BTW, Walter is a good helper ;-)

I was going to cut him in half and use him as a driver in Buxom Melons but he is too cool (and heavy) to do that to!

I think your doing a fantastic job so far"thumbsup". Keep it up. I'll keep watching.

Thanks a lot! I'm pretty fired up about the build, having a lot of fun. Hard part is making the decisions :ror:

Thanks, man, much respect for Walter, eh? He is a big dude, I'm almost at the point where I'm going to have to get a smaller figure and make a Walter out of it, just so it fits this build :ror: The motor is a Cobalt 7t. I'll have to check out your builds through the links in your sig "thumbsup"

ha ha ha awesome idea having Walter as the driver, just need to throw in the Pomeranian in the travel carrier any you'll be all set

Great start! I'll follow. Looks like your wheelbase might need a snip, but you're on the right track. It'll be a big rig for sure."thumbsup"

John Goodman is a big man. It's about time he got into crawling!

:ror: Yeah, I really wanted to use the rug as a bed-mat but the place I ordered the Dude from figured out they were out of stock a few days after I paid for him. That aggression will not stand.

i love this build so far!

Thanks! I'm having a lot of fun with it. Can't wait to see what the final product will be.

I agree on the WB, I shortened the rear links when I added the uppers. Sitting at 14" now, the Top Kick body is at 13 3/4" so things match up pretty well on that front.

Mocked up the shocks and all links are in:

I think things are about to get weird

Yeah, the Dude was scripted to be the original driver but that deal fell through. Too bad, the rug bed mat would have really tied the truck together :ror:

Yup, took the WB back down to 14" and I think the truck will be pretty happy about there. The Top Kick body is 13 3/4" in stock form. Goodman is a big dude, at least this figure sure is! Tempted to just find some other regular 7" action figure and make a Walter out of it :ror:

Sorry for the late reply, I don't have enough posts yet and still need Mod approval, so gonna try this again. I had all the links set up and mocked the shocks, got to about as close to being an actual truck as this build will be:

Got together with a buddy and we came up with this:

For sure a work in progress

Always cool seeing people use different bodies for builds."thumbsup"
Will be checking on this one.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this whole thing turns out, don't really have a true vision sitting in front of me so just winging it. Plus I just learned how to braze and have no idea how to do body work yet :ror:

I realized that the front hoops weren't going to work for the 3 1/2" ride height so bent a new pair, brazed them up and cut out the old. Still need to figure out where all the up-front electronics are going to live, then will reinforce accordingly. I also love shocks for some reason, can't stop messing with them, so pulled the rear shocks off of a couple of 8ight-Ts. They look like Wraith big-bores with about 5mm more extension eye-to-eye. If this seems to work, I'll take a closer look at the spring rates so I can have some pre-load to play with. So, to date:

Saturday, Donny, is Shabbos, the Jewish day of rest. That means that I don't work, I don't drive a car, I don't ****ing ride in a car, I don't handle money, I don't turn on the oven, and I sure as shit *don't ****ing roll*!

Love that movie "thumbsup"
