Tube frame guidlines.

Why do you think I am here?

that should be your new avatar "thumbsup"

Exesive's truck is based off of a truck ladder frame and truck parts.

the pirate4x4 truck is a tube buggy, with some panels hung on it.
So are you saying we need a full or partial length ladder style frame that we can make out of tubing?

I'm asking cuz I have a 1.9 build planned that, like Jason's, may be pushing the "letter" of the rules. In fact the truggy I want to build is based off of a full tube chassis, but to look at it you'd never know.

So if they don't have a ladder frame, and don't have truck parts they won't be legal?

If that's the case then I'd think Miniwheelers formula toy is now out. Although it does have a ladder frame, I don't see any truck body parts on it. It's basically a "tube buggy, with some panels hung on it" and a ladder frame stuffed in the middle.

This event has always been aimed at fun and trail riding with friends, not so serious like the comp rigs. Build your scale trucks, make them look like the 1:1 they were modeled after and follow the rules the best that you can. I will not turn them away as long as they are scale looking.8)

I don't want this to be a 10 page biotch thread, so lets get some builds going, post the pics and roll on out for the event.;-)

again my full width cab is a pretty good determaining factor.
must be a full width cab of the mass production truck the body is based off of.
ie i you build a FULL tube FJ using the bushwaker body. but you ONLY use the hood. the cab must be the same width as the bushwacker body, and have side panels etc.
moon/comp buggys not allowed, even if your frame is full width based on teh 1:1

ie like this. it is a FULL tuber. but it uses only the hood. but is full width of the origonal body.

just my idea.

Killah boss. "thumbsup"

For the record at this point I am not planning on using that truggy in the 1.9 class...

But I am planning on building something like that for the 2.2 class...

disclaimer... may is still far away and I am subject to change my mind eleventy billion times before then

If you can make a scale version of a comp buggy that looks scale I would be all for it"thumbsup"

But what i mean by "looks scale" is No wires hangin out, it needs to have a seat and a steering wheel etc. you cant be lookin at a big ol spur gear in the cab area. Electronics would have to hide. something like Slinky Sam's Tiny when he had the motor in the back would be ok IMO

With that said it would also be a low scale bonus car VS something like my blue rubi that is in the mid 20's. That means i could by-pass a nasty hill climb, take a roll and a hand full of backs and still have a better score

my 2

Im happy to hear this! I actualy asked Grizz to take a look at my tuber thread again and give me his oppinion if mine would be alowed cause Im scale but there is a few things I questioned after reading the rules again.

I would have asked you but Im sure your being flooded with all kinds of questions! And he was online at the time, you were not.

So ya anyway Thanks for posting this"thumbsup"

OK, so I picked a bad example, how do the rules allow for some of these rigs, but not others. Or would they all not be allowed? I just want to have a good understanding of the rules before I spend the time building something to fit within them.

I'd assume this is allowed.

I'd assume that since I can't run my hustler, this one wouldn't be allowed.

I wouldn't think this would get turned away, but I guess it's pretty similar to a hustler so maybe it wouldn't be allowed?
