I decided to go a little bit of a different way with a "scale" bronco build. I used 1/4" tube to build the frame versus square or C stock. Its modeled after the replacement chassis' that are getting popular in the 1:1 world for Cj's with rotted frames. I am also playing with a slightly different link setup...its not realy a 3-link but not realy a 4-link...kind of reminds me of a Wk setup. I might change the rear back over to 4-link. Keep watching as it evolves.

Nice chassis, looks great. That link setup doesn't look like it will be very effective though. I had something similar a while back and the torque twist was just unbearable. On flat ground if you gave it throttle the wheels would lift off. If you just raised your upper link so that it runs parallel to the lower link it will work better. Who knows though try it and see.

Might want to add some more bracing so that it doesn't crumple if you roll over.

Mnster, I already pulled that setup off the back and replaced it with 4-link...I am going to try the front for now. I figure its an experiment.

2jsc, Thats 1/4" tube its not exactly easy to bend with a bender, plus it will be tucked up in the body, Unless I take it off the roof of the house Im pretty confident it will work. If not I made 2 :) only took 5' of tube to make the chassis and cross members.

Im hoping to have it up and running this weekend (they are calling for crappy weather so Ill be staying around the house) I still have to weld on the shock hoops and get everything in the suspension sorted out...not to mention figure out where I put my transmission. Im trying to be an inovater for once instead of a just doing what everyone else does (and now someone will post where I am not the first to do this frame setup)

I decided I didnt like adding shock hoops so I ditched the chassis all together and went to the first chassis I built which is slightly taller. I have also ditched the wishbone suspension setup in favor of a more realistic 4- link. I would like to get a little more flex out of it but the way its sitting now I will have no body rub and I dont have to mutilate the body. At this point I have an Evader transmission installed but I have considered an ax10 or Wk for ease of DS hookup. Wb is just over 12". I think power will be a 55 turn at first (because I have everything laying here) but will be upgraded to a scorpion brushless as soon as I get an ESC. I intend for the truck to be more of a trail truck that might see mud from time to time so all the electronics will be tucked up high and under the body.

MNSTER: is this looking like it would fit in the scale class rules that are being created?

Anything is possible... but if you say so."thumbsup"

Just to put your mind at ease....I took the old chassis to its failure point. I clamped the middle down and proceeded to add 20# of weight to 1 side. I actually held...25# was its breaking point as thats where it does start bending. So it will bend, just not all that likely, and if it does that just means an excuse to build something else :). I do appreciate the feedback. The next 1 I build like this Im using solid rod.

well, its finally done and I think it came out looking pretty scale and works realy good.

specs as it sits:
55t lathe (scorpion sitting on the shelf)
duratrax 8t racing esc (for now)
Evader transmission
Maxx shafts
TLT axles
MG645 servo
Maxx shocks (aluminum big bore) with red springs
Spektrum 3ch radio
Masher tires on axial black chrome beadlocks

Will be adding a winch in the near future along with brushless.
