Turns explained

Alright guys, this is truly a newb question.
I understand brushless motors, but brushed motors have me a little confused. I also understand that 3 and 5 slot motors have a different turn count.
What I don't understand is what the turns mean.
Does a 13t have more torque and less speed and 35t have more speed than torque?

The reason I ask is that I want to buy a new brushed motor for my Wraith, I have already read all the suggestions and see for the most part what everyone runs. I just want to understand what I am buying.

Thanks guy, sorry about the newb question.

Higher the turn count, more power/torque.
That comes at the cost of RPM's.
Also, I've noticed that my batteries seem to last longer with higher turn motors.
I run a 35T in my Ascender on a 3S. Plenty of wheel speed, and torque.

As the others have stated higher turns means more power but less speed.

A 27T motor is going to give you more speed but less torque.

A 55T motor is going to be really slow but have lots of torque.

A good mix seems to be 35T, My SCX10 was too fast with the 27T but 35T seems just right with stock gearing.

I have a 55T in my Gelande II and it is very slow but has lots of torque which is needed because it's pretty heavy. The 55T also improved throttle control and makes it easy to control the amount of power at the wheels in delicate situations where you don't want any wheel spin.

Most important is that you get a motor that satisfies your need of wheelspeed on your voltage. Everything else is small details for a given price range.

Want some wheelspeed, the 27t three slot or 13t five slot is the best choice.

Want a little less speed and easier control, the 35t three slot or 16t five slot. Or a geared down 13t five slot for best of all worlds.

Want no power and no wheelspeed, 55t. I've sold less than ten of those in the past few years. Practically nobody likes less than 35t speed these days.

Thanks again guys, appreciate it. I understand fully now and John you will be selling me a motor pretty soon.

weird

muh BR/Xl combined with 3s gets some wheel speed outta my 55
I even geared it lower so it would crawl slower, but be peppy (torque)

but I surely can't brag about it's top speed.

So I got one of your expert 35T mtrs for comparison.
just gotta install it.

Well it's kinda of confusing cause different brushed motors are rated different like a Holmes hobbies 13t brushed motor will be more comparable to a axial 27t brushed motor. But usually the higher the number the more torque it'll have and the lower will have more wheel speed

The 27t and the 13t Holmes Hobbies motors are basically the same meaning the 27t has a similar amount of copper as the 13t
