USPS Rant

No delivery confirmation? Your fault for choosing that method. You can in fact get a delivery confirmation but its normally only good until it leaves the good ol' USA, though I did ship something to Switzerland and the DC worked all the way to the guys door.

No insurance? Again, that is between you and the buyer.

But yeah, its sucky that you have to buy insurance. Why pay someone extra to do their job right or at the very least to get compensation when they don't?

Whats BS is why you cant put a tracking # on the small flat rate box...the Cs are small and what am I suppose to do, rape the customer on shipping charges to put them in the big box so it can have proper tracking? No one is going to want to pay 50$ for shipping for a part that cost 50$...and its not my fault that they cant do their damn job and get the package from point A to point B without loosing it, or severely damaging the product.

Fedex and UPS both supply coverage up to X amount included. Not to mention USPS requires PROOF of value. If I sell you a vintage Hilux here on the forum for 800$ you get it and it looks like a fork lift ran it over and I try to file a claim they ask for PROOF of its actual value, like a receipt so their insurance is basically a scam. They wont tell you this at the counter, theyll sell you the insurance though and send you on your way

That's funny right there BD. Sorry Mike I feel your pain. They always jack up the item you can not replace for me. Custom painted vintage bodies.

Its extremely frustrating Corey. From a business owner, if you ship and item and its not insured, say 20$ and its lost in transit how do you and your customer work it out?

Not only that, but they both also have a customer support department that wont tell you to fawk off when you call in with a complaint or insurance claim.

They might charge more and lose/damage the same amount of packages, but they are quick to fix any problems, unlike USPS.

I don't ship anything without insurance if its worth more than $30, and I don't ship anything worth more than $10 without a DC #.

UPS automatically insures packages for $100, and provides you with a tracking number. Neither of which you have to pay extra for.
I think Canada Post has the same thing, free insurance up to $100 (you pay extra after that, but it's cheap) and tracking number is free too.

I've also noticed that they're getting faster too, I had an order ship out on March 23rd (which was a Friday) and it was here on Mar 28th (Wednesday). The projected delivery date was the 30th, and this came from Edmonton, so over half way across the country.

Quick update..:

ABC Hobby has been great they are shipping me a new body and decals once they have them in stock. They are quick to answer emails and the English is pretty good too.

The guy who I mailEd the Cs to in Germany just got them yesterday and sent me the money for the Cs and shipping again. Its nice to know there are still some honest people out there. It is however completely unacceptable that an item shipped priority international which is suppose to be an estimated 5-10 took over a month to get there.

Glad that it worked out for you, I think the customer did the right thing refunding the refund because you did the "right" thing on your end, as much as it sucked because it was something that was completely out of your control.

Maybe German customs held on to the package?

I've had so many bad dealings with the usps that I'll just pay the extra and use UPS. The newest scam at my local post office branch is that they never have any of the Priority boxes in stock so they want you to buy those other brand of boxes then pay Priority rates to mail it.

It's always a gamble no matter who you ship with. I order a lot of tropical fish/shrimp online for my aquariums, it's bad enough when they lose a package, but it's really bad when there's living animals in the box. I always use the "guaranteed" next day express shipping for my fish and they even screw that up. In the last month I've had an express package go missing for a day, (they found it when I called everyone under the sun and raised hell) a priority with live shrimp that is lost forever at a sorting facility, and another priority with supplies that looked like it was dropped from a plane. Of all the calls to complain, never once was a CS rep helpful in any way, never once did I receive a return call as promised multiple times. To top it all off, they did manage to inform me that even if they ran over a package and killed everything inside they would still tell me to pound salt because they won't cover any live animal losses, even if they are responsible. Oh, and there's also the book I ordered that was left out in the rain.

I just tracked a package of lawn mower parts that is coming to me via FedEx. Guess where it landed for delivery this morning?

My local USPS. :ror:
Awesome good to know your parts are on their way, and that the tracking system works :flipoff:

I've always had good luck with USPS, but I know it's just a matter of time before I have an issue. I send and receive things USPS at least twice a week and I've only had one issue. I sent a package across town and he didn't get it for about 10 days, not sure what happened, but other than that I like USPS. The people at the local PO are actually nice and helpful.

I sold an esc on here about a week ago.I shipped via USPS in a small flat rate box to a guy in Washington,it showed up looking as if it had been run over by a truck.Box was destroyed but luckily the esc was ok and worked fine. They put a "sorry we damaged your shit" sticker on it so I guess that makes it all good. I just sold my Wraith on ebay and I am going to ship it with UPS,I just don't trust the USPS with a large, heavy box or any box for that matter.

If you don't buy insurance and delivery confirmation on something you sold to someone else, you are flirting with disaster. Never mail something you aren't willing to give away unless you put insurance on it.
Every carrier I've tried has broken or lost something at some point. You roll the dice and take your chances... but no insurance? No insurance- no right to bitch.

I FAWKIN HATE USPS....... They are probably the WORST company that I have ever had to deal with.

Question if I pay for my item to have a tracking number why cant I track it.... Then when I call to ask about the tracking they tell me its only a curtisy. I traded someone an item on here and he sent it out on the 9th (Monday) and I sent my package to him on Tuesday. I used UPS with 200 dollars insurance and tracking, 15 lbs. cost 15 dollars. Its getting from FL to PA in 4 days (will be there tomorrow). He sent his out with USPS on Monday and my tracking number still shows the same thing since Monday that it was received.... and thats it! Expected Delivery date is the 16th, holy cow 7-8 days to ship from PA to FL. I could wallk there and back faster, USPS is an absolute joke. I really f-in hate using them I hate it even more when I have to call them to complain. Maybe they are this bad on the phone because they have to deal with complaints all day but seriously, if you dont like your CUSTOMER RELATIONS job QUIT!!!!! I refuse to use them for any of my shipping needs, I understand the person who shipped my package out doesnt have the same feeling for the USPS as I do but my god I really hate them with a Passion!!!!!!!!!

I have had so many bad incidents with them that it really gets me agrivated even more everytime I have another one. Well I guess Im done with my RANT for now.

here's a good one. i'm in the chat box on my local clubs site the other night. i was saying how i need bumpers for my rig. my buddy says "hay no problem i got the proline bumpers. You can have them. Send me your addy." Awesome.

so he sends me a pic of the bumpers.

when the package arrives, it was apparent that it was opened, resealed, and placed in another package........

this is what i got
IMAG1106.jpg

a broken front bumper and a CD......are you fawking kidding me???? i almost thought it was a joke my buddy was playing on me. sadly, it was not.

and another....
i buy a motor off a guy in my club. give him my addy and he sends it. nothing comes. he goes to po where he sent it from and they are clueless. 2 days later it arrives at his house and says "no house at this address". now, he has already sent me stuff in the past. so we are both dumb-founded at this point. he goes back to PO and asks whats up. The lady says she dont know why it didnt make it as there is indeed a house at this addy. it gets re-sent. tracking then shows it was delivered. but i got nothing. i call the po and they tell me to open a claim. i do. i get a call a week later from po saying the tracking number shows it was delivered. if it was not, i should contact my local authorities. i live in the 3rd biggest city in PA. if i call the cops over a 30 dollar motor, where do you think i would be on there priority list??? so i give up. about two weeks later, i go to the po in the next city over and ask my usual PO lady if she can do anything. in sorta of a lst ditch effort to find my chit. (this is the city i work in and the PO is about a 1/4 mile away) In two days she tracks it down and has it delivered. here;'s the kicker. she called me from Hospice as her father was dying and did infact die that day. So to her i tip my hat. who the hell is thinking about work while a loved on is dying? this lady does. so when she returned to work, i had flowers for her and made a donation in her fathers name.

with the exception of this lady i just spoke of, i really hope the usps goes out of business. its no wonder they are 9 billion in debt. they are fawk ups....
