Vanquish currie rockjock axels

Hey Josh

My concern is with the Lock outs and the C hubs.. What happens if/when they break? Which in my opinion is inevitable. Then we have to spend $ on new axles..

Is this an Initial cost savings on both VP's end and the buyer? Or is there some sort of additional strength built in?( Especially in the C-Hubs)

I'm running a pre-production set, and the production axles have replaceable collars so if you strip one out, you replace the collar, not the whole axle.

He's talking about the entire inner C or one of the ears breaking off which is a valid concern. Hopefully we find out that they are very hard to break.

Ah, totally valid. I could try being a bit harder on my prototype axles and see what I can do to get them to fail.

Don't you think these new Curries have a much smoother profile than the latest SCX10II axle?

vs.

Now, if you're talking about the OG axle, I still might disagree as the sheer size of the pumpkin would naturally hang up more.

These are nice. I like that they made them CMS compatible! Unlike their F9 axles =/

May just have to gather the parts to build a set of these and jump on them when they come out next month.

what im saying is.. for competition plastic slide over rocks better hands down..

take this for example. delrin tubes and cases were made to take place of berg stock parts because it slides over rocks better.

ive had alum axles and plastic. I like the plastic better.. I just don't see alum axles have a point other than being "bulletproof" and "more scale"

I just don't see that much of a benefit from them.. unless your doing u4 racing or ttc. just my opinion.

Fair enough, we're all entitled to our opinions. The smooth form factor would certainly work better than a hard edge like on the stock ones, but it's really open for interpretation. All good! "thumbsup"

Yes, snapping the ears off. Even though I know VP makes the best stuff out and I have already ran Thousands of dollars of their stuff in the past 4 years over several projects and have yet to see anything fail. Investing that large of an about on 1 item that may be thrown away after the possibility of a few runs is kind of worrisome.

I'm more interested in Vanquish cleaning up that transmission. The axles are perfect as they are.

It's always been anyone's guess with any new VP products, especially the higher end stuff like these axles. You just have to be patient and jump on them as soon as they are available or you'll miss out. They're always worth the wait though. It took forever for VP to finally get the Rockjocks in XR width but boy do I love them. I'll have a set of these new Curries too for sure.

*Replacement for orignial SCX10, not the SCX10-II.

They need to have it say "kit" since this will work in the scx10II RTR that comes with the OG trans.

I was being facetious, my point is that the AX10 trans IS the fix for the kit trans. ;-) Smaller, lighter, simpler, lower COG, I still haven't seen one benefit from the new trans. SSD and GCM also have a good fix that's much better designed and actually is scale.

I read your facetiousness and was just pointing out they need to clarify it won't work on the kit version trans haha.

Anyways....look forward to these axle housings "thumbsup"

Agreed, on both counts. Of course if someone can't tell that the OG trans case doesn't fit the new style trans internals, they need to have their tools taken away.
