Vanquish Products Hurtz Shifter Dig

Got my dig yesterday, and I love it! Had some minor complications on install (links are inboarded on my AX10 so had to put a spacer in to raise the transmission enough to clear the links, of course the hardware stores were all closed, so had to finish it this morning), but it is a gorgeous unit. Beautiful machine work, hooks up nice, works flawlessly, absolutely frickin awesome! :)

Hi,

Ok I called VP on the phone before ordering this dig unit and asked if it would fit a stock Axial SCX10 Honcho and was told it would. Well it doesn't, both the included and mini servo brackets hit the electronics box. So whats the best solution for this.

Thanks

Ok here is a pic of a stock Axial SCX10 Honcho. There are not a few thousand of them installed on 'stock' Honcho's. Only thing I can see is either flipping the whole transmission around backwards, or relocating the electronics box. But then its not stock anymore is it ;-) Guess I answered my own question, but it would have been nice to have been told this on the phone when I asked.

Also twice now I have been sent the wrong AX10 lower link mount. Twice I have talked on the phone with your customer service rep about it and never received even an apology or offer to pay for return shipping. Instead I got a cold response like I was being a pain, and the second time I was just hung up on without even as much as a goodbye.

I'm a pretty patient and easy to get along with guy. I even gave your phone rep some tech advice on his 1:1 Jeep before the AX10 axle housings were released, falling back on my 30+ years of 1:1 building experience. But as soon as a problem occurred that was not my fault, even though I kept a friendly phone demeanor, I was given the cold shoulder and treated rude.

VP makes some great products obviously, but good customer sevice also goes a long way in my book "thumbsup"

Yes there are. And it is as simple and rotating your skid plate 180 degrees so it is reversed. I am pretty sure every dig is ran in this fashion.

And we still stand by what we said. It fits a stock scx-10 truck. You are modifying the trucks transmission. The rest of the truck is still stock. But adding something as complex as a dig, do you not expect to put a little wrench work into it? We did a good job taking out 99% of the problems of installing a dig into a truck. Being each and everyones truck is different in some fashion. I think it works overall very good.

Yes we made a mistake on packaging, then jumbled it again trying to fix the situation. They were sent out one more time today to get you situated. We are human over here.

But to say the customer service was bad? I just did a quick look. Multiple emails and 3 phone calls?

I guess we need to improve upon that.

I already said I figured this out as per last post, but thanks for the reminder anyway ;-)

That would be like someone calling my old shop and asking if a set of 37" MTR's will fit a stock TJ, and my rep saying yes, end of conversation. Sure they will fit, but if that customer wants to go anywhere, they need to be told they will either have to do a suspension lift which may also mean new drive shafts, or a body lift, or fender trimming, new gears for optimum performance, etc. You never know for sure the competency of such a customer, so you at least throw out the basics to them before they come in to avoid possible confrontations and loss of business later. Very clearly I told your phone rep I was completely new to the toy truck world. I'm not going to argue semantics with you, this is turning into a strawman argument

Yes mistakes happen. I owned and ran a buisness for over thirty years and understand completely. It was the cold shoulder treatment, lack of concern, cocky attitude, of the phone rep that bothered me. My wife and teenage son were listening in the second time and agreed. I've had a few similar employees in my time, and they were not around long once I found out.

But to say the customer service was bad?

See above paragraph

I just did a quick look. Multiple emails and 3 phone calls?

Above sentence taken out of context. In my previous post I stated twice not thrice on the phone, and yes several emails. I just checked my sent emails box to corroborate.

I guess we need to improve upon that.

Have all your phone reps take assertion training with Steve. He already called me early this afternoon with an apology, a refund I've been owed for almost a month, and an explanation of the situation at VP. Steve was friendly and sincere, and acts as if the customer is important. I'm not sure if he is part owner or not, but I would have been proud to have him working customers in my old shop. He is the only reason I still feel good about VP, and will continue to send business his way. "thumbsup"

Since you are making comments like this i have no choice in responding.Since someone reading your comments will make them think they need to buy more stuff to make it work.

This is no way this is the same as buying a set of tires and rims, and then having to do a suspension lift or what ever it is you are claiming.

It is as simple as buying it. Then installing the dig transmission, in the correct manner. What is so difficult in rotating your skid plate 180 degrees? I am very confused to this fact, that you are making this into a bigger deal than it is. But you say you already figured this out, them type a one paragraph analogy that has no resemblance to what is really needed to do to install this dig?

I'm trying to buy one of these on the VP website. The description says that mini servo mounts are available but, I don't see any way to specify which one I want. Do I just need to wait til Monday and call?

Does anyone read this thread anymore? I bought this and have minor binding issues in the rear driveline at full droop. Anyone out there running this on an SCX wanna measure their rear output to axle input and all link lengths? Before I order more stainless steel, I'd like to know exactly what I need to lengthen everything by about 1/2". I think that's about what it needs to not bind.

If you stretch the truck you'll have to change the body as well. Why don't you just cut a 1/4" off each end of the driveshaft.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747

Yeah, I had the same problem on my honcho and I was about to take the dig off and put the wraith case and dig on it but I tried a traxxas shaft for the front of a stampeed and it works fine now with no binding. Just drill the flat spots out of the yokes and drill the hole in the yoke where the pin that holds the traxxas stub axle a little bigger so it'll take the set screw and then you should be good to go.

Is there anywhere (or anyone who wants to scan theirs) I can get a PDF of the install instructions? I ordered mine about a year ago and I don't have the ones that came with it anymore. I have to rip it all apart to replace tranny gears, and I'd really like to have it on file how to put it back together as I tend to forget how things came apart. I've searched a bunch and couldn't find anything.

thanks!

I have 2 active dig units running now and the 3rd will soon be installed on sometime. These units are ez to install and work great. Before getting my first one I was againce it, but as I got use to using it I now find when in running one of my trucks that's not set up with one I'm still hitting that dig button.
Vanquish has some growing pains but in the end they make good on there products and warrantys. A big thanks goes out to the crew over at vanquish.

Hi, quick question i installed the vp hurzt dig on my honcho, I'm interested in buying the mini servo bracket for it. My question is before I order the bracket an servo will a micro servo fit on the bracket?

I really would like to purchase a VP Dig and it's already in my shopping cart. However, I have a couple of concerns. I wanted to confirm that the VP Dig will fit the Integy gearbox that I'm running.

I have yet to do a physical inspection and I'll do that when I get home. I think my gearbox will fit, but I'll check to be sure.

Another concern I have, is that my gearbox is rotated 180°. So when the VP Dig is engaged, will it be locking out my front drive shaft?

Any help or clarification is appreciated. Thank you.
