<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />Ok so total newb question here so please forgive me. I am fairly new to the RC game and I picked up a TH a few weeks ago. All the electronics are stock and I just received the VP Rigid light bar I had planned on installing. I have mounted a light on one of my other cars and that was a simple plug. After receiving the Rigid light it doesn’t look so simple (for my RC skill level anyways). I asked the “squirrel” dude that has all the YouTube videos and he gave me some answers but I am still not too clear on it, but did not want to keep bugging him.
Basically he said “solder the red wire to the esc to battery red wire” and I understood until he sent me a link to a video of his and he was talking about a “BEC”. Now I am lost again.
Can I just solder the red and black wires coming from the light directly to the red and black wires going from the ESC to the battery? Will this fry the light? I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Yes, thats exactly what you want to do. Power either direct from battery or bec set at similar voltage of battery. Either works. I would suggest a switch or plug, so lights arent always on during day runs draining battery.

awesome. I really appreciate the response. I wasnt sure if connecting it straight to the battery would fry the light or not

Yeah I read that earlier. I will be upgrading the electronics soon. Just don't know what direction I am going to go with. I thought I knew until I joined this forum and seen the MANY different opinions. MMP esc for sure but no idea on motor.

im glad you asked this question and not me but thanks for the details I just got mine in last week and couldn't figure it out either.

I run my car on 2s so I have a very small like 450 mah 3s that I run the light off of (ps get a roc 412 motor there great)

I'm curious, where do you find space to mount that lipo?

I run shorty packs in stock location and I cut the bottom lip of the battery tray that holds the pack that came with the car from sliding down. I Velcro the 3s pack right there below the shorty. The only reason I cut the tray is for the 3s wires to fit so both the batteries take up the space of the tray. I know it's heavy with all this but my shocks are tuned correctly and it works for me

I've got a 1000mah 3S pack in the front that powers both my 2" and 4" light bars, I just use the plugs as a switch.
