VP VS4-10 Origin by JUSTINART24

The rebuild of my Vanquish Products VS4-10 is almost complete, I got the axles and shocks mounted again. Next step, paint my new shell and build the interior.

Another update on my Vanquish Products VS4-10, I am working hard to get this ready for a WARCRC Scale event coming up. I have had this Origin Halfcab body for while and finally got around to use it. The last color I used was a little bright, so this time I went with a more relaxed looking color. I did a two ton paint job, black roof and black hood detail. On a side now, I recently found these Tamiya masking tape dispenses and really dig then, it helped make quick work of the masking job. I used a 6mm and 10mm tap thickness.

I painted up my Vanquish Products VS4-10 and used PS-63 Bright Gun Metal as the main color and a PS-5 Black for the roof and hood detail.

With my Vanquish Products VS4-10 all painted up, I decided to apply a flat clear on the outside (PS-55 Flat Clear(For Polycarbonate)). It takes a bit of time but you just mask off the outer windows and headlight/taillight openings. I have done this flat car on my AE86 Drift car, UMG10 and Flatbed Unimog. I really like the look, the shiny lexan outer looks a bit toy-ish and the flat clear help pull off that old Scout paint job.

Oh man! That looks great! Nice work for sure.

Side note, I need you to do all my painting from now on. I hate painting lexan bodies!

I took out my Vanquish Products VS4-10 out for some pics before it got too nasty out today and to capture some photos before the first scratches...lol.:mrgreen:

Looks great!"thumbsup"

I've always been a big fan of the PS-63 Bright Gun Metal. I have quite a few of my rigs painted in this color. I never thought of spraying the flat clear over the gun metal! Gives it that "sleeper" look!

Great job on the rebuild! Good luck and have fun at the scale comp!

Oh man, that’s delicious...

Thanks!"thumbsup""thumbsup" I agree, the color is really nice, it might have a hint of too much blue for me but I am really starting to like it.

Looks mighty fine Mr... "thumbsup"
Thank you very much, it's pretty fun to drive."thumbsup"

Nice rebuild, like the color combination.
Thanks! Me too, less cartoon color looking.

I was able to get some driving in with my newly rebuild Vanquish Products VS4-10 and wow the overdrive is awesome. I was worried that having the transfer case OD gears, front OD axle gears and the rear UD gears was going to be too much... but now, really worked well going through the courses at the 2020 WARCRC "SORRCA" Scale Comp 3 yesterday. It's really got me thinking to run the same setup in Class One as well.

Re: VP VS4-10 Origin by JUSTINART2

Here are some pics of when I had the SCX10.1 Currie axles underneath the chassis. These axles have a pretty large sized diff compared to the now SCX10.2&.3 axles but are pretty durable.

For tires I went with Pitbull Rock beasts, there the 4.75" tall versions. This tire is a pretty good fit for Washington state, they clean out good and hold well on mono rock too.

For the beadlocks, went with 1.9 CAC EZ-Loc's by Gear Head RC aka RPPHobby. These EZ-Loc's are a old design taken from CAC or Create a Crawler, just a small website that use to sell them before Gear Head aka RPP took on the design and production. I will say, this really are the easiest beadlocks to set a bead on, no joke.

For the shocks, I went with the 90mm VP Incision shocks. They are pretty smooth shocks but I will say the Prolines might be just a hair smoother.

Also, in the pic below you can see the hubs the EZ Loc's use, I forgot to mention above but you can adjust the offset by switching the hub on the other side, which is neat.

Don't mind the strange looking old axial link as a pan-hard bar but when I was running these SCX10.1 Curries, I ended up not running a pan-hard bar but just to top links to the two thread holes on the axle used for original four link mount, which was way to high.

Here is a good view of the alum front servo mount/brace, it might look like plastic but it is a nice black anodized alum piece. And to be very honest, is an insane amount of machining on that brace, I bet their glad they make those in plastic now, it couldn't have been cheap to make the alum one.
Slide8.PNG

The front bumper actually has a lot of machining work as well, nice piece and some what side back enough for some decent approach angle.

What links did you end up running for the VS4-10 chassis with the SCX Currie Rockjocks
