VS4 Ultra pre-build questions

You won’t want a Castle if you run a PullerPro. I prefer the 2700stubby over the regular. I just put stubby in my SCX10III, regular in my VS4/VFD

I agree. The Slate isn't a bad motor, but the PP just has more oomph.

Why do you prefer the stubby?

Couple of buddy’s ran the stubby and no real difference between the full size 2700. In the SCX10III, with the motor cover, I worry down here about heat, when it’s 90+ in the shade, everything to keep motors cool helps. I actually have fans on all my castle MMP/ MMX/Holmes Esc’s

Interesting that you don't notice a difference. Maybe you would in a heavy truck. Good to know though. Thanks.

Makes sense about the heat. It's hot as hell in Florida and unlike Texas, you don't have a dry heat you have that wet heat!

Hi there

After a long brake in RC, i`am going to build a VS4-10 Ultra.

I`am already in the process to order the stuff to upgrade to the PRO VFD.

Is the aluminium slipper plate in the Ultra Kit included?

And whats the benefit of the overdrive gear set?

Thanks and i cant wait to start the build!

edit://
I think i got the „trick“ with the overdrive.
It helps climbing, improve the turning circle and helps with torque twist. Hope i got it right...

And thanks to the build threads, i saw that the aluminium slipper eliminator is included to the ultra kit. So i do not habe to order that...

Yes it does. I built the tranny last night (man that took a long time). I used the plastic one.

UPDATE:

Got a hold of Amain first. They were helpful in checking into this. Got an email soon after from the VP folks. They said the two other bags "might be" packed in another larger bag. Lo' and behold, indeed they were. In a larger bag that had the two smaller bags and it was covering the bag labels. It was in the transmission bag so when I looked at it, I saw all the gears, did not notice the bellcranks... well damn. Seems like a bit of a miss to me VP. These smaller bags should be together in the axle bags.

Oh well, I have everything! Amain and VP both responded very quickly!

PS. If any of you have an Ultra kit coming check in the transmission bag for A1 and B1 parts bag. Ha ha!

@el_Fernando
This LITERALLY just happened to me and I upturned my entire room trying to find this damn A1 bag! I've had the kit for a while but only been able to start, and decided tonight was the night, i thought i had lost it! After a while I remembered reading this thread on RCC and sure enough the A1 was 'hiding' behind the B1 bag.... ugh... well now i can start :lmao: def a packing 'miss' by VP... or at least can be improved for the future. Well glad i found this thread, thanks again.
