Warrior 35T vs Holmes Cobalt Puller

Any of the motors would be a good choice. The 10t is most flexible and would allow you to run the motor for hours on end with no heat worry, or you could run it in a very heavy rig. The 7t is the medium and won't be in stock for another few weeks at least. The 5t is the comp type motor and is best suited for 6-8cell nimh for average use, and it gets hot pretty fast on higher voltages. It is my choice of motor for 2.2 comp rigs. My scale and basher rigs get 10t or 7t motors.

we have a local bunch of people here, 3 comps so far, we had 25 at our last one on saturday, but i dont think the comp level will require a 5t . so mostly local crawling, and when i take out my 1:1 rig, moab/hammers. etc... and when the local comps come up im in!!

John: I'm really liking the look of one of your 10T Cobalt motors for my Wheely King. I'm getting an ESC that will be able to cope with it, but I only run 3300/6 cell stick packs due to using the stick battery location.

Would this be like trying to power a train with a watch battery?

They are Orion Super Duty packs.

I will be in the U.S from the 18th of Feb for two weeks, will you have one in stock then? I can save myself a bunch on shipping that way.

Well, honest truth...from what I've seen just lately in vids of the performance of these puller motors...why on earth would you need anything else unless the length was too long for your setup? I am convinced for sure. I HAVE TO have at least one of these pullers.

i know this isnt a voting thread or poll on which one is better. but i'am sold on holmes cobalt puller ! saw a 7t in action all day today !! the motor has got some balls..did abit of carnage to my buddies tuber (miller) but all in all its freakin sweet !! "thumbsup"

Probably so, depends on the wind. Today is the 18th. I have vendor threads set up for this kind of chat too, in my vendor forum.

feel free to ask a mod to move this to your vendor forum if you like John since it has kinda of turned into a thread asking questions about your Cobalts

and please reply to my email about the pre-order for the 5T so I can be sure I get one"thumbsup"

Like Simon, I run with the 7.2V, 6 cell. How does the 10T work under those conditions? The Warrior has impressive numbers at these lower voltages! The 10T, at double the cost, for my sake, needs to work without additional input! Would probably have to changs ESC as it is!

Nothing against a 35t motor, they are nice for crawling. BUT,a 10t cobalt will crush a 35t,even at lower voltage. For the wheelspeed of a 10t on 6 cells,I have no clue. It's been a loooong time since I run 6 cells. I've been bit by high voltage packs and will never go back:lol: I'd be willing to bet that John has tested these on 6 cells for reference though. I do have a 6 cell pack I can charge up and try mine out later if you want me to.

If your gonna change ESC's,I'd highly recommend the Mamba Max. Then, run a 10t on a 3 cell lipo pack at roughly 30:1 final gear ratio. It's fun"thumbsup"
Grunt power at the bottom and pleanty of wheelspeed to lite'em up if needed....matched with BUTTER smooth throttle anywhere in the throttle range.

I've been looking at the Wheely King and I dont think the extra length of the Cobalt will fit in the chassis:-(

Thats the beauty of a crawler. Make it fit:lol: I'm running my 10t in a chassis that was designed for Clod axles at the moment. I'll soon be running my 5t cobalt in my narrowed Axial chassis. It'll take a little trimming, but it'll go."thumbsup"

what esc's can i use other than a mamba max with a colbalt puller? Say running on 6-7 cell packs at like 7.2 volts or would i also have to upgrade the battery?

Any ESC that is 27t capable will run them on 6-7 cells. IF you want more voltage you will need something like a sidewinder or mamba max.

how well do these motors handle the mud and water? i want to run a 7t in my scaler to get the wheelspeed and torque i need for it to be a mudder.

Same as any other brushed motor, they get dirty and wear out fast.

Do you want to use an $80 motor in the mud? I would run a tamiya stock motor on high voltage for a mudder, cheap and cheerful for any underwater duty IMO.
