Weather Lexan?

Good to hear! I've ordered some paint and cheap accessories. Will have a go at it this weekend. Thanks for the info!

This body is painted silver on the inside and weathered (made to look sweaty) on the outside.

Here i layered paint on the exterior to create patina

Another example where I weathered the exterior

I have not mastered any technique per se, I just try different stuff

Very nice! Especially the 2nd one. That's the look I'm aiming for, maybe a little less then that. I can imagine that knowing when to stop can be difficult once you get the hang of it.

Hi gentlemen. New guy here and new to RC so excuse me if I ask silly questions!

I was reading this thread because i want to have a dab at weathering my rig.
The above comments are very helpful already! Thing is my body is already painted (it's a RTR) olive green on the inside with a mat clear finish on the outside.

You all think it would still be doable weathering over the existing clear coat or am I better have starting with a new body?

Thank you for your time!

Can definitely use that body. Green showing through other colors would look good IMO.

This body started off as a black TRX4 Bronco body and ended here. All painted on the outside.

Another easy way to get a nice weathered look is with chalk pastels. It's been used in model building for a while.

First get your paint down, then a good matte coat. Next get a fine piece of sand paper to use as your palette and a nice assortment of chalk stick pastels and some cheap paintbrushes.(stiff bristles preferable)

Lay your sandpaper on a flat surface, and rub the pastel stick back and forth on the sandpaper, until you have a small pile of fine powder, then dab onto desired surface area with your brush. Go light at first, you can always add more. You can mix colors to get the desired look. Can be rubbed on in larger areas with a tissue, paper towel or cloth. Really an easy process and can get some great results. Practice on some scrap to get a feel for it first but easy to master.

Hope this helps someone.:)

That sounds great! Haven't had the guts yet to start on the body.
I've been fooling around with the Tamyia weathering Kits in some accessories.

Cut up a plastic household appliance haha, hopefully it resembles a metal box of sorts!
