Went with the Ascender for my crawling fun

KInda stuck right now til my back servo mount comes into the hobby shop. Figures weather is going to up in the air so would be a great day to get everything wrapped up on the Ascender but guess will just have to wait til later in the week to get my part. On the bright side I guess I can start building my Kyosho RB7 buggy and get a head on that project:). Might turnout to be a good day anyways. More I get done on the buggy the more time I can spend later in the week on the Ascender. I will also have new tires coming in probably Friday. Think i decided on the Ottsix Voodoo KLR/X4 style tires on all black SSD wheels (will have blue lock rings when they come off back order for a little different look.

Seems like the weather is iffy more often than not lately. What a wet summer! My grass has never been this green this late in the season...it looks like spring out there!

I've got to get my Ascender finished as well, it's been sitting 3/4 done in the corner alone and unloved.. :(

Any day you can wrench on RC is a good day. Carry on!

The rain has been bad. I did finally get to go kayak fishing on Sat with my brother and 2 other friends so that was a great time.

Funny about the grass as our townhouse complex needs mowed pretty much as soon as they finish mowing.:ror:

Still up in the air about tires. I was going to get the Ottsix KLR/X4 and inserts but I can get a much better deal from my local shop on the Ruptures he has in stock or some Pit Bulls. I'm leaning towards the Ruptures but I will know once I see what Pit Bulls he has in stock.

That being said I have my SSD all black wheels and have blue SSD bead lock rings on order for them. Once together I will get pics.

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever get my Ascender back together. My part that I ordered from the hobby shop didn't come in so after a week and a half of waiting no part. I'm tired of waiting so I just ordered the aluminum mounts I needed and now I just need to wait a little longer and I will have the blue GPM servo mount setup. It will be great if I ever get my AScender back together again. Weather is getting nice and with the cooler temps will be a lot of fun over the next month to get out and run some. Good thing my new blue bead locks for my SSD wheels showed up so I will change them out. Still didn't 100% decide on the tires I want so I will just keep looking.

Well after a lot of reading and thinking about what tires I wanted to go with I finally decided to go with the Pit Bull Rock Beast 1.9 XL with the new DIrty Richards soft molded insert for the front and the medium for rear and will be going on my new black SSD wheels with blue bead locks. One other reason I went with these tires is I prefer to buy as much as I can from my local shop as the owner takes care of me and they also have the Pit Bulls in stock so I will pick them up Friday.:) Can't beat a good local hobby shop.

I thnk this will be a great setup and along with all the other changes to the truck with the new battery tray and going to 3s lipo I'm thinking my Ascender just got a whole lot better and even more fun than it already is. Can't wait to get it all together. Soon as my GPM servo mounts arrive then I can really get my AScender back together.

I got two of the wheels done with the blue beadlocks on the SSD black steel wheels. Really like the way they look but man that's a lot of 2mm luug nuts to take out and put back in. Everything looks like it's falling into place. Got confirmation that my GPM aluminum servo mounts are on schedule for Friday delivery, my Dirty Richard tire inserts are scheduled for Friday delivery and then Friday I will pick up my new Rock Beast XL tires so I will have everything I need to complete my Ascender again and have it up and rolling either Saturday evening or sometime Sunday. Looks like the next two or three weeks after this one will be doing a lot of crawling.

Yes swapping 60million bolts to change them can be a pain but they look fantastic and I must say, well worth the hassle. Very nice! "thumbsup"

Once I get the foams Friday and the Tires tonight I will get them together and post up more pics as I finally get stuff done.

I am new to the RC Crawler forums and the crawling scene myself. I am patently awaiting the delivery of my Vaterra 72 Bronco RTR(arriving Oct 9). I can't wait to unbox her and get out crawling with some of locals here in Apple Valley, Ca. I see them gathering once in awhile at Horseman Center but I am usually headed to work when I see them. Quick question, I read this whole tread, but sadly I only saw the links to the pic you posted in the beginning am I missing something?

Come out for the event there 10-27. Should be a blast - it's a great place to run trucks.

Few more pics. New Pit Bull Rock Beast XL (will mount the rest over the weekend.), BPC Battery relocation Tray and GPM servo mounts

Thanks for the invite Browneye, sadly I am working 18 hours shifts every Saturday this month. But I would love to come out if you will have me next month.

My Ascender Bronco is delivered and I will be unboxing it Monday when I get home from work.

Unfortunately, or fortunately - however you want to look at it, the BEST source for local events and get togethers is Facebook. The clubs and members put everything there.

I just found out about your local club from a cross-post on FB. I don't know how often they sponsor an event.

Renegade Rock Runners and LA RC Crawlers are the most active around here and both put on very nice and casual crawling comps.

If you get down to Orange County with your rig and want to crawl we have some good close by stuff. Just post up or PM in advance and we'll try to pull some folks together.

Thread-jack over. LOL

Did a little more to my Ascender. Mounted up the Pit Bull XL's and pit on my truck. Just waiting on SSD brass front weights for the wheels. Slowly coming together.

I hope to get the wiring on my Mamba Micro X switched around so I can use my 3s lipo I got a few months back. Need to find some black or blue battery tape like I used for my touring cars. I use to have blue but don't think I have it anymore.

Did another one of the shock mods and moved the bottom of the shock out on the rear axle.

The new Rock Beast XL tires where excellent for my first run out on them Very happy with the way they worked today. The BPS battery relocation tray woked great along with using 3s lipo for the first time out on the trails. My Ascender is getting better each time I take it out as I make little changes each time and trying different tires. Tires I think I'm pretty set on the Rock Beasts XL for the rest of the year. With the shocked moved out and the shock mod on the left rear shock done the torque twist when crawling up steep slopes isn't noticeable at all.

The Castle Mamba Micro Max with the Castle 2280 sensored motor worked perfectly after running this combo on 3S lipo for the first time. Really lie the extra power if needed (rarely did I actually need to use it but having it just in case is awesome). Used the Lectron 3200mah 3S lipo, Ran for 2 hours 15 minutes and pack was at 11.31 volts so very happy with how efficient this combination is. Next time out I'm going to take a little weight off the rear of the truck and see how that works out. I think I have too much on the rear at this time so will see next weekend how it goes.

Picked up my new SSD brass wheel weights that just came out. Going to put those on my wheels Tuesday when I get home from work. I got two pair so I can do both front wheels on my white and black SSD wheels. I will get some pictures but I think most of you guys probably have seen the the new SSD black brass hexes.

Anyone looking for the Proline aluminum wheels with Hyrax G8 compound tires with the Proline molded inserts I have a set of 4 in the bronze color to sell. Over $200 bucks invested in the wheel, tires, hexes, and inserts. Would like to sell for $125 or trade for a new set of Ottsix KLR X4 tires in red compound with the matching dual stage foams for vented tires.

Wheels are in mint and tires are 99.9% as I only drove the truck twice with these tires. Tires work great but just switching brands so these need to go to a good home. PM me if interested. Will ship USPS priority mail.
