CI says Lil'Novas for crawling. The single stage foams are for faster rigs. Anyway...that's what they say. ;-)

So I had a new stock F100 body for a few months now and finally painted it so I could replace my standard orange and white F100 RTR body. Now I'm not a great painter at all and this is my first attempt at trying to make it look kinda old. I was fortunate enough that someone on FB was nice enough to tell me how to do it so I tried it out. Here is what I came up with. Since these pics I added some more rust looking on the hood and roof. Need a few small decals added and a little more trimming of the wheel wells but overall I thought it didn't come out half bad.:) Please be gentle on me.:ror:

What would my truck be without some Chrome Dirty Danglers

This week I got all my stuff to mount up some new tires I bought. I bought some Duratrax Showdowns and mounted them on black SSD wheels and used CI Lil Nova 4.25 (Comp cut with soft foams for the front and standard cut with soft foams for the rears). The fit is exactly what I was looking for and they feel great. Can't wait to try them out on my Ascender and Coyote.

The second setup I went with the same CI Lil Nova setup but this time in my new Boom Racing Hustler tires and went with SSD Silver wheels. Can't wait to try these tires out as they feel great and look like they will really work well.

Is that the Carisma Toyopet body? I dig it!

It's the stock Coyote Body that comes on the RTR and in the kit version Coyote. I thought it was pretty cool looking for a stock kit body. I'm not the best painter but did the best I could. Today I was bored so I just Rhino linered the wheel flares so I think it looks even better.

Added a black RPM blower to my Ascender. I think it looks pretty good and it's something a little different.

Sweet! What kid doesn't want a blower coming out of the hood! The Ford paintjob looks great. The Coyote looks mean, I always eye that rig up when I am perusing the Crawler boxes at the LHS.

Thanks. I was pretty happy with the how the paint turned out on my Ascender.

Here's the blower setup on my Coyote body. Need to paint the butterflies red yet but otherwise it's pretty much done. Also a pic of the Coyote with no body just so you can see it. Mine was the kit version and not the RTR.

I have not posted in awhile as I been messing around with my other crawler lately and I need a receiver so I can use my new Spektrum DX5 Rugged radio. I did buy some RPM headers but didn't install them yet but I think I will get to them over the weekend. Hope to take the truck out in the next couple of weeks as I miss running it.

Looking neat. I am still working on my Venture SBK. The weather here has been so wet and windy it's not fun out, but wanting to try sometime with my K10.

I totally understand. Looks like where going to go 10 days without rain and that would be longer than anytime last year as the most we went was 8 days in 2018.:x

Let me know how you like your Venture. I almost bought one and still might (not sure I need 3 crawlers though):ror: I think it's a very nice looking crawler and really nice quality.

The Venture is great quality, very few problems building it. Still building it as it's a pick up body and needs modifications to the rear shock mounts and stuff. Will be finished soon I hope

A review of my new Spektrum DX5 Rugged. I didn't have it setup in my Ascender yet but it's in my Carisma Coyote. I'm waiting on a new receiver so I can hook up my Ascender.

I had my first time out with my new Spektrum Rugged today. When I first got it I really didn't like the way SPektrum has the touch style buttons but now that I sat and messing around with it I find it's much easier to use but it's still not my favorite setup button wise vs other brand radios I have used. Ok that being said it's really the only complaint I have. The screens and ease of use I fnd to be very easy and espically I have not used Spektrum stuff since the original radios Spektrum had out which I didn't care for overall quality wise and the receivers losing bind on hard hits.

Got what I didn't like out. Lets get into what I do like. Only been crawling for about 6 months so never had the need for a winch. The Rugged was very easy to program my Aux swith assign function and setup so that I can use the winch off the assigned switch (c) that I used. Very cool feature. Next I used the Aux assign again and setup Aux channel 2 to (D) which I setup to have adjustable drag brakes on my Castle Micro X esc. Really like that it's pretty easy to do. THe new SR515 receiver is a nice small size and being 5 channel is a nice touch. The SR515 receiver is a nice compact size and works great in my crawler. The added lever so you can throttle and drive with the same hand is a nice touch.

Overall other than the touch buttons to adjust the main screens that I don't care for I really like the rest of the radio and after using it for 5 hours crawling I have to say it is an excellent radio overall.

How I have my Spektrum DX5 Rugged setup up with my Castle Creations Micro X esc and Castle Slate motor. This in my Carisma Coyote right now and my Ascender will get the Rugged hooked up the same way I run my Coyote.

I got a new Spektrum Rugged last week and just last night I setup my Mamba Micro X and paired it to my new DX5 Rugged. I used the Aux 1 channel on the SR515 receiver for my winch and setup the Aux channel 1 on the Rugged setup for switch C. The Aux wire on the Mamba Micro X I used Aux channel 2 on the SR515 receiver and using Castle Link I setup the Aux channel for drag brakes for crawling and used Switch D on the Rugged. REally is nice to be able to adjust the drag brakes up or down when ever I need to. You can use the Aux off the Mamba X and or Micro X and select it to one of about 10 choices Castle gives you. Just pick the one you that works for you application on the Castle Link and setup with your radio.

I have used Castle stuff for racing since 2004 but just started crawling for the last 5 months and been using the Mamba Micro X in my Ascender and Coyote with one on 3s and the other on 2s. I paired the one with the Castle Slate 2280 and the other one used the Castle Slate 2850 motor. Really nice versatility and efficient.

Went out on a trail run this weekend and did close to 5 miles with 18 total trucks. A few left early and 1 broke but we finished with 12 trucks running.

2 HPI Ventures, 1 Gmade Komado, 1 Carisma Coyote (Mine), 2 Traxxas TRX4's, 2 Ascenders and the rest where SCX10 or SCX10.2's. Was a lot of fun to see all the different setups, bodies, tires and accessories.

Had a little time to mess with my Ascender so I added numbers to the hood and some black heads to match my black blower setup. Nothing special but think it looks pretty cool. Very happy with the way my Ascender has come along since I bought. Great crawler.

I hope to get another receiver soon so my Ascender is operational again. Want to take it out again and run it as it's been awhile since I ran it.

Well finally after about 2 months I got a new receiver for my DX5 Rugged radio and have it all installed in my Ascender. I just finished adjusting the steering, brakes and adjusted my auxiliary channel that I setup so I can have adjustable drag brakes on the fly. I can put in or take drag brakes as needed.Normally I'm not a fan of Spektrum radios but I really like this radio for my Ascender and Coyote. Nice to have both rigs up and running again.:)
