From what I have seen the traxxas vxl connectors look very nice and easy to use. They are pricey though, and I would have to do quite a lot of soldering to switch over.
Hey John, are they blue outer plastic with gold plated contacts? I saw some at nats, and they looked very capable. The only things I don't care for about the Deans is: #1 They are tiny, so it is hard to grab ahold of them to disconnect.#2 When soldering, if you apply to much heat, the plastic will melt and cause them to move off center, which can lead to connection problems.

Nope the VXL ones are black and rectangular in shape.

The Blue plastic with gold connectors is definately the Airplane ones, I believe E-Filte or JR makes those. Very simillar in idea to an Anderson/Sermos.

I use the Deans or Deans knock offs. I can tell no difference in proformance. JRH, do you care to expand?

Deans since the mid 80's."thumbsup"

Ditto! Deans Ultra plugs are the best. I'm actually still using some of the Deans plugs I ran on my RC-10 back in the 80's.... try using a Tamiya plug for 20 years!

Deans are good to about 60 amps. Tamiya connectors are probably only good to about 20 amps or so? I know the fast electric boat guys use bullet style connectors, with their brushless systems they may be using 20 to 30 cells though, just a few amps being drawn... Regardless, resistance=heat, heat=decreased performance, decreased performance=unhappy RC'er

Plug the other half into the one you're soldering. That keeps everything in place, and you get a heatsink effect.

I use Deans, but If you think you have something better let us in on it.

Wow:shock:

The people at ebonics would even be confused on that one... "thumbsup"

Owned...

and I have used deans for years, used to use the 4 pin ones then converted to 2 pin style.

I'm actually wearing it underneath my boxers today because I have a horrible case of mud butt and don't want to ruin my boxers.

BTW, I like deans.

...some plug I can't remember the name of, they had a red side and black side and could be slid together with notches to make different configurations...

Those are the Power Poles. You can also get them in colors other than red and black.

The deans are smoother to plug in, the knockoffs are a lot tighter. The knockoffs probably have a better connection because of that. I use genuine deans because I hate struggling to unplug my battery.

Deans on most everything...although the 3.5mm and 4mm bullet plugs seem to be multiplying by 3's:shock:
