What is everyone using for a Transmitter?

dx3e doesnt use sticks its a pistol radio. i currerntly use a tq3 with 3pos and epa mod till i can afford either a dx3e or ko ex-5 ur

Futaba 3pmx, love it, its a great radio but i find the menus somewhat complicated, wish someone would make radios with knobs and dials again.

I plan on getting a 3pk or 4pk someday.

The first time I drove my LCC I had a Airtronics M8, setup for dig. It was such a pain to use I began looking for a new radio. I ended up buying a Spektrum DX3R but came really close to buying a Futaba 3PM-X.

Just my .02

Crap, I was talking about the DX5E earlier not the DX3E. Does it come with both sticks auto center or is it easy to set it up ?

the dx3e is by far the best bang for your buck. i have an airtronics m8 for all my other racecars and i just couldn't justify another high end tx. and the dx3e works great."thumbsup""thumbsup"

12z for me8) I fly heli's so might as well use my bad ass tx to crawl. I use the 4ch air rx so I got room to do lights, 4ws, dig etc. The rx's are around 55$ and they are about the size of a quarter. I like stick radios for crawling vrs. Wheel radios for racing!

I mostly fly too, and was debating on if I should use my 12Z as well. I have some ideas that could make use of the extra channels.

I like it a lot. The only gripe one might have is that there isn't a throttle return spring on the left gimbal. It doesn't really matter to me because really its like being in idle up. I haven't done any scale yet but with all the channels the sky is the limit. I have done 4ws and I just used my rudder channel for the rear steering. It seems really natural to tell you the truth. If you need any programing tips just pm me. I would be glad to help you out. "thumbsup"

Thanks...I fly heli's too...if we can program CCPM, crawling is childs play!

I disagree, IMO, the best bang for your buck is the 3PMX for several resons:

10 model memory
EPA, EXP, and all the other functions that make you look like a better driver
Futaba FASST 2.4Ghz reliability
The ability to adapt to any type of surface RC's
The price difference is ~$60 (using tower's $15 coupon)

I would only reccomend the DX3E for someone who is going to only ever have 1 RC car, drive it in comps, and doesn't care about how they finish in those comps.

I run a 4PK and I am proof that a good radio can make you look like a better driver than you really are. I would rather drive an axial with a 4PK than a berg with a DX3E

I don't agree that a DX3E is going to hurt your chances in a comp. It has endpoints for steering and a 3 position 3rd channel for dig with endpoints. I've seen several people get schooled by someone using a TQ3 several times. I agree about your other points that it doesn't have any other features but it would be fine for a basic one rig 2.4ghz radio.

as you can see Joe i already have an M8 and it wasnt cutting it for the lcc. anyway the dx3e works great. btw if i was going to get another tx i wouldnt hesitate buying a 3pmx. but id probably spring for the 4pk.

What a good radio does with all those features is mellows out the learning curve. Throttle EXP makes a jumpy rig controllable, etc. There are many ways to tune out bad driving behaviors (car and driver) with a good radio.

Remember that money put into a radio is always well spent because if your rig falls off a cliff, you still have the TX in your hand. "thumbsup"

You obviously have never tripped on the rocks with your radio in hand.
I did once with an older Futaba and the battery door smashed off and batteries flew all over the damn place lol.

Lanyards work well when climbing around on the rocks with an expensive radio "thumbsup"
