Okay so after spending some cash I am limited to $200 to transform my AX10 kit into a more capable rig.

Current Setup:
27T w/stock Axial RX/TX/ESC
HB Rovers and Dual Stage Memory Foams
1 inch wheel wideners both sides
Hitec 7955TG servo

I am really annoyed at the analog setup. I currently have a Futaba 2PL 2.4Ghz for some Tamiya cars and my SCX10. I also have a Futaba 3PM FM radio for my baja.

What would you do with $200 to get the AX10 comp ready? Best bang for the buck? I think buying another FM receiver for the AX10 would be a must as I would need 3 channels if I plan on installing a dig unit in the future...although I do prefer a 2.4ghz

If I was gonna spend $200 on my AX10 I would also get the Tekin FXR esc/motor combo and a set of aluminum Axial competition shocks.

First, i would ditch the 1" wheel wideners.

Then I'd spend the first $210 on an RCC membership to allow access to the handy dandy classfieds section.

Then with the remaning $180, search the classifieds for a used parts:

!) A good esc. The tekin FXR, Castle Mamba or Sidewinder, heck even the rooster Crawler is ok if you plan to stay under 2s lipo. Expect to pay around $65-90 for a good one.

2) Some good quality shocks. You can probably find a full set of 4 losi Crawler Shocks, or Traxxas Big Bores for around $35-40.

3) A used Losi MRC radio system will get you no fancy bells and whistles, but you'll get glitch free 2.4 gHz signal. Plus you can bind the rx to another 2.4 gHz system when you get one. Probably around $40-55 for the radio and reciever.

Again ditch the wideners, get a receiver for the 3pm, a fxr/45 combo, ccbec and 4 link the rear.8)

ide hold off on the radio till you can afford a 2.4 3ch, the dx3e is cheap and works good.

lose the wideners, look for a used fxr and motor in the classifieds. and find a good used lipo charger and get a couple lipo packs. me personally i'm happy with just 2S lipos. having a light battery allows you to put the weight elsewhere lower on the rig

search the classifieds. lots of good prices in there all the time

Strippers and beer "thumbsup"

But seriously lose the wideners get a dx3e and get a $100 fxr and motor combo. Or find a used fxr and motor maybe an used 2.4ghz radio and some used alum wheels.

You could also do lots of smaller upgrades if you don't have them alum knuckles and C's, rear axle lock outs, some cvds

Or for me I'd go a radio and a VP dig.

Maybe a hooker too

No one has even mentioned a new chassis?? Personally I'd be looking at a chassis and ESC. So your $20 membership, a $50 used chassis and $70-90 used ESC which will leave you $40 for a set of Tmaxx shocks which work just fine on a crawler with the right oil.

Worminator axles would be a waste of money. You can't get much steering angle out of them, and of the build threads ii've read, they have a lot of problems.

A new (used) chassis might be worth if, but tthat opens up too many possibilities. I'd think cvd's and high steer knuckles would benefit him more.

Opening up possibilities is a bad thing??

Good point on the steering however the stock dogbones could be clearanced to give enough steering angle for now. Booty fab highsteer can be done by adding a small spacer on top of the stock knuckle. Either way knuckles and C's will need to be done at some stage when they break.
