Whats the Best 100$ Servo

There has to be a point where more torque just breaks stuff. At 420oz I broke a ton of shyte till I got things right.

Just like how the jump to 3s breaks more stuff I imagine. All I know for sure is that 277oz/in is not enough lol. There are too many offerings in the 400-500oz/in range for around 100$ that I just dont know which way to go.

Dude. At this point does it really matter? Get a promodeler and you will be happy, get a HH and you will be happy.

You know what the difference between a 420oz (older) promodeler and a Solar d772 417oz servo. When I run the promodeler I don't even think about the servo when in a bind, or in water or being stupid.

When I run the solar I carry a spare servo.

Every truck I run starts with a solar, then get upgraded to a promodeler when I have some extra cash. I have 8 rigs running everyone of them has a solar servo winch or steering servo. I smoked one shortly after install. Would I like the remaining 4 rigs to have promodeler steering yes, would I like to switch all the winches yes.

You are right there are many servos in that oz range and price range.

Sounds like you need to do something even if its wrong.

Good luck

I ate 2 Holmes and had a PM that wasn't happy in my 10# wraith. The warranty on both was outstanding, I went to the 2290 and couldn't be happier

I will say 400 to 500 is the real need, I've always run 3s so I build to run the first time. Just like a BEC and Holmes bypass, its standard equipment.

I am running both a 420 and a 470 ProModeler For most rigs, you will never need or want another servo, silky smooth and so quick and solid.

I love my HH HV500 V2, no issues since i installed it in my trex.8) I'm running it direct from my 3s lipo with hh bypass adapter. It's quiet and has a lot of torque. I run into a bind and it moved the whole near 10lbs trex instead of the tires :flipoff: ok hand of god had to solve it at the end.
Very happy with this perchase"thumbsup"

I get where youre coming from, but it matters to me. I dont want to jump on a product and then be displeased with it.

Nah, I havent seen one that weighs more than 5lbs, which is the rate on the flat rate boxes.

Even Nema steppers for 3d printers dont weight 5lbs.

If you hadn't already ordered one, rpp just picked up reef servos, may want to compare the triple 4 to some of these other ones. One thing about the savox 1283, is I don't believe it to have metal mounting ears, which for a 400 plus ounce servo, is a huge weakness. the PM470, holmes, and i believe the reef all have full metal casing and mounting ears. just food for thought.

I haven’t ordered yet, but I’ve never heard of reef servos. The only thing annoying about the 1283 is it’s only 417oz/in. The 1239 is 500, but not a metal case. The PM is close, but at best is a 3 week wait. HH seems designed for 3s, and I haven’t converted ov r to 3s yet as I have a lot of high quality 2s packs that work fine.

If you haven't see this comparison from Durok about the servos, maybe might help picking one.

Nice comparison/chart what durok did

That is pretty good for 2s. I wonder how much quieter it is compared to the screeching savoxs. I’ve heard of people getting bad parts from any manufacturer, but at least Holmes and PM have reputations for great customer service.

Holmes are well-known for being very quiet servos. JRH likes quiet electronics - both of his ESC have the ability to set them up to run very quiet. Only his Revolver is loud!

For $100 why not a Reefs Triple 4?
444oz of torque and super quiet and crazy fast.
$95 shipped from most dealers.

I’ll stick with the proven Pro Modeler for that price. Reefs has taken farcebook over, time will tell us if they come close to PM and Holmes.

Bingo. Fanboi parts rarely pan out to be nearly as good as fanbois preach ad nauseam because they will never tell the truth about their favorite product.
