the reason i ask is because ive honestly only ever drank jack daniels and that was one time, 6yrs ago... i love beer, i collect beer, ive got 96 bottles in my collection so far from watered down american lagers to dark irish and english warm beers. but whiskey is something ive never really tried. so what do y'all recommend?

Well for me i would say Crown its runs strong in the south here, and my wife got me into it. And then i have Pendleton which i get imported from friends from Washington. Jus had a ruff night that ended with 3 of us doing shots of the pendleton and drank down half the bottle. But i kept it all down and didnt waste a single drop and that with not having a single drink in over 6 weeks. Have a good night and be safe...

Scott it's all about the Vodka not whiskey. For me it's Belvedere or Grey Goose on the rocks and if I have to I use Ketle One for mixing. I think for wiskey I like (1st) Makers Mark or (2nd) Crown Royal.

Knob Creek is okay, Makers Mark is a personal favorite (local bitches!), I drink crown on an occasional saturday but IMO it's not worth the cash given how many good/better drinks are out there. Early Times is my favorite cheap-as-hell drink and again, made in Louisville.

If you like Beer you've got to try Cumberland Brewing Company:

Great folks, and again local.

Rum = Sailor Jerry's all the way.
"thumbsup"

Vodka = Hookers and Cigarettes.

Whiskey

  1. Makers Mark
  2. Knob Creek
  3. Crown Royal
Vodka

  1. Chopin
  2. Vox
  3. Kettle One (for mixing)

Try Evan Williams Single Barrel, it's real nice for the price. If you like rye whiskey try Basil Hayden's.

If you don't drink bourbon often you should go with Makers Mark. It's smooth and more tame than the one's above

Maker's Mark and Crown both go down easy. Early Times, my God I haven't had that in years

Vodka's what you order when you want chicks to know how sophisticated you are  Whiskey's for drinkin'.

There's only one whiskey worth a dime Johonnie Walker, Black Label for going out and partying, Green Label if your chillin at the house, Gold Label just out of the freezer to drink with your little ladie, and to me the best whiskey in the world Blue Label smooth straight up..........

I'll add another vote to Maker's Mark. Quality flavors and a price to scare no one. Good for mixing or chilled, or on the rocks.

Though I will also add another to Jameson too...so good as well. I prefer this more on the rocks for sipping, wouldn't really mix with it unless its a shot or shooter (like Irish Car-bombs....mmm).

I am not sure if you have the same vast selection available we do in Kentucky but the following are some good ones that are easy on the pocket ($25-$40 a fifth):

Buffalo Trace
Corner Creek
Rowans Creek
Four Roses
Jim Beam 7 year
Woodford Reserve
Bulleit Bourbon

Any small batch or single barrel Kentucky Bourbon is good. Stay away from that Tennessee shiat.:-P

For wiskey I would recommend Evan Williams in the green bottle.

But my favorite drink is Bacardi 151. (gotta love a drink that you can light on fire.
