i have done plenty of research on this and almost every time i research what is the best servo or what is the best waterproof servo i get varying results and so far have worked my way through around $300-400 in servos

last one to bite the dust was a hitec 7954 which lasted 1 battery pack, (i know its not waterproof), i accidently went into a river where i thought it was shallow and it sunk completely for around 5 seconds and instantly pulled it out, before i could disconnect the battery, steering turned hard right and out came some smoke from the back of it.
game over within 10 seconds of touching water

ive got a savox sw1210sg in my wraith which is slower and more torque than the sw1211sg in my scx however with the 2.2s on it and different knuckles etc it ends up feeling quite under powered compared to the less torque and faster servo on my scx

so basically im not sure what to buy next, i dont have to have a waterproof servo, however i do like having waterproof for peace of mind if i feel like smashing through puddles and water
my bomber is for crawling and trailing and if i feel like it i run it in mud and water

this 7954 had o rings on front and back casing, and the 4 bolts however they obviously did nothing

also money is basically no option, as long as i'm not going to kill it within 2 seconds like this 7954

or if anyone has a fool proof way to allow a 7954 to work as a submarine that would be great too, as i really liked the servo before it died

Very interested in the answers here aswell...

I bought a KST BLS662WP recenty for 53 bucks, pretty happy with it so far - although it has less torque than the 7954 and the 1210sg, at least on the spec sheet.

I have a Xpert WR7701 that has been submarined several times with no problems, they are actually intended to work fully submerged. For some reason, they have been out of stock most everywhere for a while.

The new Spektrum 6200 series of servos are listed as waterproof, those look to have some promise. The 6230 looks to be a better value than the Savox 1210 (better specs, smaller size, aluminum mounting ears) and the 6280 is a complete beast of a servo. I'm hoping to try one of these as my next servo.

Don't forget the Holmes HV500 as an option as well.

^ they may be sealed and water resistant...
But they're not claimed to be water proof.

Savox does offer a line of water proof servos
But their best is still down somewhat, regarding torque
when compared to the 1230

But it's not that difficult to make a 1230 water proof.
Definitely something worthy, if one submerges their toy regularly.

I have two SA 1230 SG servos
one in my 1.9 (4.30 tires)
and another in my 2.2 (5.80 tires)
Fairly new install... but I like them alot.

No servo saver, instead direct alloy clamping servo horn.
So if it rolls and impacts the wrong way
there's the chance of breaking or stripping gears.

Generally I crawl fairly slow...
and avoid tumbles down a slope.
So hopefully mine will hold up to my abuses.

Turns my 2.2's with authority...
but is major overkill for my 1.9's

But too much torque is better then... not enough. ;-) JMO
