wheel adapters

jus wondering if anybody out there has tried to fab up a home made wheel adapter for a clod? if so what were the things used to make them and how'd you do it.

For what they cost it wouldnt be worth it,at the bottom of the world(new zealand)they are $60 for a set of 4,all the machining etc not worth the time.

I would buy them as well...search the vendors here or on ebay...delrin ones are lighter but aluminum will hold up to more abuse....stay away from the ones where you need to drill holes in your wheels to add 5 screws, they weaken the wheel and I have broken wheels with them...

What wheel are you trying to mount to the Clod?

as of right now im undecided on if i want to go with 2.2's or bigger. i was just wondering if there is a universal adapter that will go from 14 mm to a 23 mm .if so where can i get it?

i used wheels with a 14mm hex and wrapped a piece of brass around the 12mm tamiya adapters. fits nice and snug.

as for adapters Integy makes a bunch for just about any size.

you got any pics on how you wrapped the pieces of brass around 12mm hex? just getting curious on how u did it.

i flattened some brass tubing and laid an end on one of the flats of the hex and held it with vice grips and just worked it around with another pair of pliers making sure the corners were tight. it should fit really snug in the wheel or it may work its self out over time. a spot of CA couldn't hurt.
another thing is that there is no off set for the wheels with this, i narrowed my rims so i dont know if they will fit and still have clearance.

How do I adapt wheels to the Clod Axles?
Clod axles have a 12mm hex, many of the vendors sell hex adapters and wideners to allow you to run wheels with 12mm hex, 14mm hex, 17mm hex, and 23mm hex.
TMaxx, EMaxx, Savage, etc wheels are 14mm hex so you will need a 12 to 14 mm adapter.
Proline 40 series wheels can be found in 14mm hex and 23mm hex.
Axial 40 series wheels use a 17mm hex.
Maxximizer wheels come with 14mm hex or 17mm hex.
MAXX wheels mounted to clod without adapters.

yup! the pics would be cool. if its not going to be any trouble. just want to see exactly how you did it. dis might be something i could pass down to my brother , he's also building clod and cant figure out what size wheels he'ii be going with too. just so you know dis is our first clod build, not to be cheap on the build but just something for now and so we can test it out until we get serious with it. so thanks for the help man.

1. WRONG!!!
2. i used brass tube cuz its easier than cutting strips of sheet
3. make sure your comfortable, this may take 15 minutes
4. round to flat
5. hold on a flat with vice grips but not to tight on the splines
6. bend by hand and sharpen with pliers
7. few more times
8. TA-DA!!!! cut off extra
9. tack glue in rim
10. put in the hex and install tire on car
11. install car on rocks
12. HAPPY CRAWLING!!!!
