Just wondering what your opinion is as far as axle strength and the common weakpoints.
I am running a 45T integy with a 15T pinion and pede tranny with a 90T spur. I am then running moab xl's on axial locks.
About a week after running the moabs, my axles starting popping. Come to find out, i had quite a bit of play in my pinion and it was skipping the ring gear. The teeth were actually starting to round on the ring gear. I ordered the hardened gears and shimmed it correctly using white grease to check my mesh. I haven't had any problems since and i am thinking i am ok. I have been at WOT going up a ledge with the front bouncing and jerking and jarring with no other breakage. I have seen the out drives break but if that ever happens, i'll just throw in the cvd's. Is there anything else i should be concerned about? I am going to stay with open diffs since i don't compete and i like my turning radius. For those of you in the 1:1 side of this, what would you compare it to?
D35? D44? D60?
