I have the hpi wheely king that I have converted to a rock crawler, I have also installed hpi's gear reduction box on the truck with a 15t pinion, but the truck moves so slow now that it's like watching a turtle. is there any way that i could speed the truck up with out removing my gear reduction box? thanks.

will I have to change the pinion gear on the motor also or just the pinion gear on the reduction box?

Why not just ditch the reduction box, and gear it higher. I'm running
87T spur, and 24T pinion.

yeah I might do that. but I like the lower gear that the reduction box gives. I just don't need it geared at a 174:1 ratio.

I got mine geared at 96s and 13p and it moves slow , with a 75Turn integy , but every now and then it will stall out on 6 cells. I have considered going to 3s lipo , that would give it more wheel speed and a bit more torque.
What motor are you running ? Battery ?

3s lipo and a hh 7t puller "thumbsup" btw what motor are u running? stock 27t?

btw can u post a vid of your truck crawling? im curious to see how much slower the gear reduction unit is..

Ditch the gear reduction, get yourself a 32p Traxxas 72t spur gear and a 9t 32p pinion. Final drive reduction from the motor to the wheels is a total of 70:1. I'm running an El-Cheapo $9 Multiplex permax 18t airplane motor in my rig, and it's un-stoppable. I can drag my nearly-40 lb. kid around in her wagon and still get 4-wheel wheelspin... ON CARPET!!!!!!! "thumbsup" And that's on 6 cells... imagine if I volted up.

It moves faster than I can walk. I know that. It's perfect for scale trail-running and mudding.

If you need more grunt than this... well, then I don't know what you're doing wrong.
