Winch Poll/Guide/Reviews

Robert Knox @ KMS didn't like the last batch of 180 servos he purchased and decided to use an entirely different servo brand and vendor.

FYI The **NEW** KMS 180 oz winches will pull more like a 220oz and are by far the best value on the market.

this is classified information and now i may have to kill all of you.

i also cannot confirm or deny that KMS winches and HeyOK controllers can take 4s power without issue.

i agree a TZI winch is hard to get. i've tried to contact them a few times but no answer. KMS will respond to emails in 2-3 hours if online.

That has changed since our last visit Matt I am buying TP servos direct from manufacture ,,And they are a lot better looking servo so far,, Cats out the bag two new servos are are testing very good both over 50lbs of pull on my scale ,, One breaks the 200 lbs test line at 82lbs when trying to see what the scale reads ,Its a nice servo full aluminum body, titanium gears ,,Costly but works great ,, the boards I have pulled from it so far have Hitec on them ,,Funny ,,,, Still testing ,,,, All the 220's will be using the new TP servo that scales reads 50lbs pull ,,Thank you Robert

I've had just about every winch I've seen. Currently I have a CLAW winch on my c1. A QS on my g6 rig and a TZI on my weekend basher. But by far out of everything I honestly say best bang for the buck is any of the KMS winch's. There price point's are far superior to the competitors and there is a free spool option. Ad a Heyok 4amp controller and you have your self a crazy power house of a winch that will drag you thru any course needed

Thank you ,, I try hard to give you guys a good winch...
Got a message from a guy up in Washington state say's he broke a AR60 axle housing the last comp. got his rig hung up and kept putting the power to it,, winching ,,I think that's awesome but at the same time feel bad about his rig ,,I have seen guys put the winch line on a tall stick to lift the front of the rig, to help it over ,,not a bad idea

Stumbled across this thread and figured I would give my opinion! I see its already been given over and over! Kms k3 in every rig I own! Heyok controllers, I'm slowly upgrading the old ones to the 4amp cause the added power of the 3s is amazing!

I do have a question though. I've never owned a tzi winch (mostly due to the cost and no need to replace my Kms winches)before, but I'm pretty serious about the competition side of the sport, and weight distribution is the key factor in a good performing rig. Those things look like they weigh a ton! Anyone have both that can put them on a scale and tell us that you pay more to add sprung weight to your rig?

Edit: don't get me wrong, the machine work on the tzi case is beautiful and the tzi name is made up of my favorite initials, but chrome don't getcha home!

Another aspect. As a vendor nothing bugs me more than seeing a product that you can't get your hands on right away! If I don't have 50 on the shelf, they don't get released to the public. I've called Robert (Kms) with an idea for a winch and he sent me prototype pics of my idea within 3 hours! A video of it working shortly after! Now that's customer service, and my business will stay with him because of that!

Ok so I have been asked what one of the new prototype servo winches looks like ,,let the pic slip else where so might as well here to,,

Its a aluminum case 30 kg servo ,, 480 oz roughly ,, So good name for it ,If it goes in to product it will be a Free spool only ,,K2 now will look into doing a K3 ,,Thank you Robert ,,,
