wtf is wrong with ford

Ford has some of the best paint colors out there. That's it. Only Ford I would own is a Super Dookie but I have no practical use for a truck that can tow a house.

The grill was last used in 77. 78 put the FORD logo on the hood.

Different grill and different shell. 75-77 f250 had low pinion large hub dana 44 front ends with God awful hydraulic assist steering that you can see on the blue truck. 78 and 79 had square headlights, that red truck has either been backdated or they are just dumb.

I actually like the new Raptor better than the older ones. Yes all the trucks are starting to look the same but eh, whatever.

The 1 (or 2 things) I don't like about it........

F O R D I get it, it's a ****ing ford, it doesn't have to be in 14" tall embossed letters across the entire Grill and Tailgate.

Only thing missing is a big faded decal "FORD" on the sides and a speaker on top that blasts "BUILT FORD TOUGH" every 5 seconds :ror:

I saw the new F-150 in person the other day. I like it. I hated it in press releases though.

Also Ford has stated several times the new aluminum bodies will be CHEAPER and faster to repair then the previous steel offerings. They are like lego, when a piece is damaged you just take it out and put a new one in. as opposed to 200hrs of work trying to re shape the steel panels. While I havnt been able to test this yet, I am assuming the new bodies will also have a much more solid 'feel' then the previous ones. i swear to god soup cans are made of thicker steel then F-150's, close the door and watch the ripple.

The previously mentioned 'unhealthy puffs of black smoke' That truck probably has a tuner. It's not uncommon to get a little rich burst before the turbos catch up. Much like in the gay ass coal rollin diesels.

So far in everything i've seen built, from focus' to F-150's the turbos have been great, the bottom ends on the other hand, only seem to hold up to around an 30-40% increase in power over stock. Not that there is anything wrong with that for 99% of consumers.

All that said the new raptor has a lot more power, is a shit ton lighter and will probably double the previous ones fuel mileage. But I wish they kept the V8. The ecoboost engines sound TERRIBLE.

This sort of thing almost always happens, new designs must go a little too far so that when it's still in production 4-5 years down the road it still looks fairly modern.

The new ford "gt" on the other hand...

^^Those pictures look like they were taken with a potato

Reminds me of this

From the look of every new truck grill over the last few years I think this is what they are all shooting for

I don't mind the turbo's and aluminum bodies.

I met a guy a month or two ago at a gas station along side i70. He has put alittle over 140k miles on it and said maintenance stuff is all he's had todo with it. He has a hot shot company (for the oil and mining industries) and uses his 2012 ecoboost f150 90% of the time, very rarely the power stroke gets used because maintenance costs more on it and his loads rarely max out the f150s towing capacity. Which I believe, my step dad used to hot shot and they'd pay 100+ an hour or $3+ a mile and sometimes it was picking up a small cardboard box with a control unit in it at 1AM and delivering to a rig that was down.

As for the aluminum, I think it's better than steel in most cases where absolute strength is not needed. Think about all the aerospace products that use aluminum. Also, the trucking business has been using aluminum frames, bodies, trailers, etc for a long time. I know my parents have at least one aluminum framed semi in the yard and a aluminum flat bed. All the other trailers are belly dumps and tankers(water).

As for the new raptor, I hate the body, mainly those massive square chevy looking fenders. I've never really liked the f150's since the bubbly ones came out in the late 90's, but I didn't mind them. The new raptor, I don't want one (which is amazing, because the old one was top of my list for new vehicle I'd want to buy)

The new GT and the GT350 are awesome though...

the change to square headlights was a mid-year change if I recall correctly...I have worked on both, the early round version ones and the later square ones..

To be honest, I like the new design paths that all of the manufacturers are going with. They're getting away from the traditional box-style workhorse truck. They have brought lines, angles and curves that you could only find on sports cars. While I do find that some of the badging is a little much, it's all just carryover from the previous generation and it kind of goes with the radical design of the new Raptor/F150.

The new Tacoma is the same exact way. I have heard that it looks like a Corolla and whatnot, but the truth is, it is a refreshed design that it desperately needed. Put a little leveling kit and some meater tires and I guarantee it will have a very aggressive look to it. Lets face it though. At least none of these new trucks is a Ford Ranger....

The Titan, I believe will turn some heads but not because of the styling. No. It'll be that monster Cummins under the hood. The whole Nissan line just looks awkward to me.. there isn't a "set" style like with what you find on Chevy, Toyota, Ford, Dodge etc. Could be worse, Nissan could have let the previous design roll for another 6 years..

The Ram Rebel is one of those truck brand that I feel is just stepping in the same footprints as Ford. If you do a side-by-side comparison of an equally packaged 1500/F150, you'll see VERY similar design ques. Moreso with the Rebel; most obvious is the RAM on the front and rear. Since Ram couldn't get that Powerwagon PreRunner (or what ever it was called) to production, they're trying to make it work with some wolf clothing over a sheep skeleton.

All in all though, We should be thankful that we are so spoiled with a HUGE update year. Sure there with be lashing out and things we don't like, but give it a few months and see it in person. Then give your true thoughts.

78 had round headlights with square as an option and 79s had square lights standard, at least thats what my ford buddy told me. I happen to like the square lights myself.
