another reason NOT to lash out on a new XB1 and Forza5.....
Forza 5 To Require Internet Connection At Launch — VirtualR – Sim Racing News

"Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox One console will put an emphasis on internet connectivity and Forza Motorsport 5 will be no exception as Turn 10′s Dan Greenawalt reveals.
Players looking to get going with Forza Motorsport 5 are required to have an internet connection on their console for the simple reason that most of the title needs to be downloaded off the internet before players can get going with the title.
In order to have Forza Motorsport 5 ready for the launch of the new console, Turn 10 will be working until the release of the title, putting what is essentially an incomplete boxed version of the title in stores.
While day-one DLC content is not a new concept, Forza Motorsport 5 will differ as the content is required to be downloaded for the title to work:
“So when you first boot up the game, we’re going to ask you to log in,” Greenawalt explained to IGN. “And when you log in you’re going to get the Drivatars and you’re also going to get a whole bunch of content: tracks and cars. Our production schedule is such that we are putting them in as late as possible and that means making them free as downloadable content on Day One.
[But] that is required content to play the game. We basically have designed the game to work with all that content no matter how late is coming in, in order to make the biggest game possible.”
The good news is that the online connection and download is only required once, players who prefer to use the game offline after that can do so.
Forza Motorsport 5 is due to be released for Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox One. New features of the fifth installment of the Forza franchise include laser-scanned tracks, open wheel race cars and lots of new content."

ummm, no, i dont think so sunshine. I know we all have inner-nett, but some of us would prefer to go into a "bricks+mortar" store to buy and support a local economy.....

It's just the way it's gonna be from now on. GT6 will be the same. Apple is doing away with (has done away with, actually) disc drives in their computers, also. No idea about other brands, but it's just the way they're gonna do it. It's cheaper for them, thus more money for them.

I'm like you though. I still buy CDs and vinyl for my music, as I like having physical copies. When I buy a CD or record from Amazon, I also (usually) get a free mp3 download from Amazon of it. And often the record will include an MP3 copy. It's weird, but it's what it is from here on out.

I'll go out and buy GT6, then they'll feed me more stuff via their store to keep me paying for it despite it probably being a $60 bare bones game.

nowhere on that does it say anything about not supporting brick and mortar stores. just talking about some content will have to download when you first load that game. and even then they are not charging anything. just you have to hook up the xbox one to the internet when you first load the game day one.

yeah i know.....for me tho, I have limited web access with a mobile wifi modem with high data prices, the land-line web access for our housing estate is astromically high which is why we've never connected. Data prices here in Oz are much higher to you guys in the U.S too from what I gather.
I'm sure the game will be leaps & bounds better, but they've lost my interest with this new direction that you HAVE to connect to play, be it once or all the time.
