My hobbywing 1080 and scorched parts battery tray and esc mount turned up today woohoo!

Time for some more upgrades.






The Vaterra battery tray got smashed by the rear swaybar links after a 1 too many heavy landings.

Upper links just touch esc mount on full compression, I’ve got some spare Ascender shock bump stops that will be a perfect fit on the rear shocks to stop it getting beat up!



Drilled the 3rd hole for the battery tray rear mount, counter sunk screw installed from the bottom.
Front mounts use the old servo mount holes, screws and nuts.



New countersunk screw in the bottom. M3 nuts press into the hexes printed into the parts.




Everything fits nice!

Looking good. The sand videos were great. I wish I had a beach to drive on. I'm stuck snow bogging.

that beach is Stockton beach in New South Wales Australia. I think it might be the biggest sand dune beach in Australia, 20 min drive from home. Its mostly National Park now and access a bit more restricted these days....

powered up the TH last night and it was the motor that was at fault not the ESC, got a spare dynamite ESC now!

I should have know as there were no beeps on start up, ESC uses the motor to make the beeps. the led was flashing as it should. off to the hobby shop to get a new motor too now!

Stockton beach is great, like all the area around Port Stephens: you are lucky to live in that part of the world!
Running the buggy in the sand looks fun and yours looked pretty stable, I guess the low traction up on the dunes reduces the risk of of rolling... How much work was it to clean the sand from all the nooks and crannies? That's the main thing that deters me from doing so myself...

How are you finding the Scorched Parts Battery tray? Is it practical to use?

The sand was nice and hard and smooth, was easy to get a bit of a drift happening, could still roll over if you tried hard enough.

I keep all the drive shafts dry and lube with graphite powder only, sand doesn’t stick. Whatever sand got inside the tub just shakes out easy.

As for the battery tray, haven’t tried it with body on yet.

Next job will be trying to get the interior to go in and out easily, maybe held in place with magnets

Two ways to put the battery in.

You can slide it in through front window.




Push it to the rear and push the front down under the dash.




Then slide the battery all the way forward and down into the tray.
It requires a little flexing of the plastic roll bars, but its easy.

Or the other easier way is to slide the battery in through the side window.




Flex the side of the battery tray out a little to get it in the last little bit.



Then push it forward. It’s pretty quick and easy.
To take it out is just as easy too.



At all fits nice, like someone designed it all to fit together !

Hardest part is unclipping the o ring to remove the battery, but even that’s not hard.

I had always wondered how the battery actually got put in or out with that mount. Perfect for a basher but i'll keep my semi-interior plate

Yes Richterat83, I miss the interior as well, my plan is to cut off the driver figure side and reinstall the non driver side as normal, then separate the helmet from the driver hoping I can get the driver to fit back in with magnets and then stick the helmet back on also with a magnet, helmet magnet may even be on top and attach underside of the roof.

Did a bit of a hack job on the interior!

Non drivers side was easy, cut driver side off, cut out a notch the clear the receiver and wires and screwed it back in.





Cut the drivers lap off to clear the battery, took helmet off also to aid putting it in and out.

This piece is very flimsy once it’s cut up, so time for some mesh tape and sho goo.




Glued his lap back on.



Magnets in the helmet.





Some steel discs glued on for the magnets to stick too.

Helmet hangs down off magnet, drivers body hangs down off helmet, it’s also just resting on top of the battery,



After the battery goes in you slide the drivers body/ seat in place. Fits easy through side window.



Put helmet in trough front window and slide into place.



All held in tight by magnets. You could probably get away with leaving the helmet screwed on and just have the magnet on top, it’s a bit of a squeeze but it will all fit in through side window in 1 piece.
