| Carnage Crew Garage 1950 Mercury Build
We have been working on this for the past few months. It was brought to us as a bone stoke 1950 merc 4 door by the customer who bought it a few years back and has never done any thing with it. The first thing on the list he wanted done was to chop the top 4 1/2 inches. The main idea for this merc is to keep it looking stock but with a chop. So all the chrome will be put back on this car along with all the wing windows and stainless. So out came the saws , english wheel and hammer and dollys. About 250 hours in to the top and about about 70 in the wing windows and stainlees and we look like this.

We have already lowered it 7 inches from stock and that is where the owner likes it so that is what he gets. As for custom modes the chop is all it is getting. Every thing else will be stock. The plan was to make it look like it came from the factory this way.

here is some shots of the doors and b pillar before and after. The amount of work it takes to do one of these right is crazy. The body will need very little body filler. Most old timers that did this didn't care and just covered these things in lead hence the name lead sled. You can see in some of the pics the sections we had to and in to the doors to make them fit right again. |

And on to the rear window area. The rear glass in this car will remain stock and un cut so we spent allot of time positioning it to flow with the lines of the rest of the car. then had to shape all the metal around the rear window on the English wheel and weld in the hammer and dolly smooth. You can see in the picks the flat piece we started with then the first shaping and then the final fitment. |

The owner is on the east cost right now for work and won't be back for a few months to sit in it. But I am pretty sure the seats will need to be modified.
