I know you can raise and lower the front end by tightenin or loosenin the bolts for the torsion bars. tightin it will raise it and loosein with lower it. would i have to loosen it and take the key out and change the position of the key(like change the settin onthe key) or just tighten it and raise it? also its on a 01 dodge dakota SLT quad cab

You don't need to "re-clock" the torsion adjuster key. Simply turning the bolt will allow for adjustment. I'll warn you though, since you live in the rust belt, don't be surprised if those bolts break when you try and turn them. Don't be surprised if said bolts are only available at the dealer. I know the GM's have a stupid special tool to take the load off of the bolt before turning the bolt. It's mostly required due to GM's chinzy setup. Not sure if your dakota will require any such tool. Old Nissans and Toyota's I know don't require any special tool. My suggestion is to adjust no more than a few rounds worth of preload, othewise you drive around with the front suspension essentially topped out and it'll ride like crap. |
