| Johnny's OG Mercedes Benz S Class: Heckflosse
I've been looking for one of these extremely rare first gen S Class beauties for about 15 years now and finally found one in pretty good condition within my price range and the model I wanted, the 220Sb. The 1961 Mercedes Benz 220Sb Heckflosse (Fin Tail) has a straight 6 cylinder with twin carburetors producing 110HP and a top speed of 103mph and the full chrome treatment. She's pretty straight and rust free with a few dings, the interior is pretty clean and she runs strong with 65,000 miles. 4 speed manual on the column is sloppy as hell and needs a rebuild, manual locks and windows all work (which I wanted as my last old Benz had vacuum leaks everywhere!), and an original dealer installed ac unit that still blows... air. I just had the tank drained and the 2 fuel filters cleaned (one in the tank) and she's running great. I need to build a rear axle center cv boot the old RCC cut-n-shut way and she's good to go. Removed the dual carburetors yesterday for a rebuild. I hope that gets her running smoother. She's a bit rough as is and wants to stall unless the choke is on. |

I have a 58 in the shop just waiting for me to get to it. I love that car. My dad had a 58 with a sliding ragtop that belonged to the manager of the Beatles. He has pictures of the car with them in it. Once the carbs are rebuilt, take care in syncing them and it should run like a champ. my pops old 58 |

Wow, that is clean! I love old MB's... such great design and solid engineering. Yeah, adjusting the carbs has me a little worried but figure it'll get worked out with a few adjustments... I hope. |
