Default Ocho's Class 2 Truggy

Time for a new build! A bit of recycling and a bit of new stuff. Body and chassis will be here next week, F350 Cab with a RC4WD Boyer chassis that I plan to do a little work on, We will see once it gets here I have never actually seen one in person but off the pics I plan to add some tube here and there to beef it up.

current Specs
F350 body
Boyer Chassis
Trex 60s (Plastic housing, XVD shafts, HD gears, Fully shimmed and pretty much bullet proof for what I do)
R2 Tranny(19tooth pinon)
35 turn integy motor
Punisher shafts
Spark shocks
FX/R
946MG
Mayhem 1.9s with flatirons
RC4WD Bully Winch

Well let the building start, Like i said Chassis and body wont be here till next week and I have a run scheduled for the 10th so I cant start the tear down on my current rig untill then so the only thing I can work with at the moment is wheels.

so take RC4WD classic beadlocks that look like this

Add some solder to make it look like this

then the front two get some special treatment in the form of stick on lead weights

When its all said and done you get this haha

Oh please don't tell me you are going with red frame and black body, cause in that case i ought to ask you some royalties

Good work, i love HL bodies on 1,55"

lol no red and black, Tho I did feel bad deciding on the 350 because I know your building one but it was either this or a hilux and this just seemed better IMO. and the wheels are just a coincidence, Iv wanted these things for like a year and like I said in your thread I couldn't find anyone who had them until I actually bought them and then I saw your thread.

Don't worry I was obviously just joking

I'm glad to see another project on the same basis as mine, and I can't wait to see some progress

Maybe we will be able to help each other with some information.

I will follow your buildup, I subscribed.

One step closer, Got the chassis today I like this thing alot, but i can already tell I may want to cut a lil off the front of the chassis and move the bumper back, we will see once the cab gets here. The shock towers are probably going to get cut back a bit too...

and a pic of my current rig that my drive train will be coming out of..I can only hope this new truck will perform half as good as this tfinder does. Its amazing.

Anyway I wanna start this thing but I have to wait until my cab gets here so i can set where i want the front axle and go from there. hopefully itll be here tomorrow

Yea I will second that the tfinder was a beast on the trail. I am sure once you get this built you will be able to fine tune it.

Big update today everybody, Got the build pretty much mocked up other than steering and body work. suspension is pretty much final other than minor movement of front axle depending on what bumper i go with and how i cut the fenders. I still have to cut tube to go over the all thread on the upper links. need to mount steering servo and make a steering link. I need to finalize axel placement so i can trim the links to put nuts on the end so it looks like a real heim joint you can see some of my end links already have them. I really like the ride height but may drop the front upper shock mounts a lil bit to help keep the rubber out of the fender. depends on how i cut it. You may have noticed the gap between the cab and cage... I plan on building a gas tank like people have in the bed of trucks to fit in that gap and help cover the motor and back of the cab. Like i suspected before Im going to be cutting alot of the front of the chassis. actually pinching the rails together a lil bit to to mount up the bumper. The flat part sticking out the front was where the servo was supposed to mount so ill have to fab up a servo mount, might as well try to fit two in there one for a winch.

Now that i think of it, Everything on this truck other than body and electronics is RC4WD.... Not sure if thats a good thing or not. at least Iv already built the axles to be built proof in my last build haha

I want to see how it turns out, it has huge shoes to fill tryinng to follow the xj's capabilities. It looks all business though, ready to stomp some rocks.

Haha yeah, I love the first pic i put up of it, It sits so low the links are level with the chassis and the ground. It looks great but makes me think its gonna get hung up a bit

Looks great!

One question: how are you going to make it steer properly with 4-link and a chassis mounted servo?

A bit confused on the way this is going to look with a gas tank....is there still going to be a gap at the top.....would be different. Maybe a better approach might be to make a extended cab with styrene. If you have never worked with it, it is my fav part of building almost now.

Very nice cage....very clean. I have always liked it. Sounds like you may have some brazing skill?? If you changed out the swiss cheese mounts for a more simple sleek approach in the rear especially it would set it off much better IMHO.

Nonetheless looks like you have a hell of a nice platform as a start. Nice work so far keep er up and keep the pics rollin.

It'll steer fine but will have serious bump steer. But that's the scale part of CMS. It's the same as it would be in a 1:1. You just loose some of the angle as the suspension cycles.

Iv never worked with styrene but may give it a try. I never planned for that gap to be there the pics of this chassis with this cab looked clean but that's jus the angles they used in the pics. Im gonna have to figure something out. The shock mounts will get replaced once I get everything tuned and find where I want the shocks to stay.

Nope, you would never use a front 4-link on a 1:1 without hydraulic steering.

CMS should always be paired to a 3-link + panhard bar setup. I did this on my F350 and I obtained ZERO bump steer on the whole suspension cycle

.
Wow, another person that knows nothing about 1:1's, I just three linked my 95 bronco using a dana 44 out of a 76 f150, uses the same setup as the CMS, no bumpsteer......
