Default New bright TJ

Heads up, this will be a slow budget build!

I swapped a set of 1.9 rc4wd wagon wheels for the chassis, axles, and wraith tranny, bought the body on here cheap but the PO hacked half the back off. Working on getting that fixed then I'll get the wheelbase set and build links. Plans are front mount HH 30t to a gcm t-case, metal cage, 1.5 wheels with pitbull growlers.

Cant seem to wrap my head around where I'm going with it with these tires. Sold off all my extras and these and ordered a set of 1.5 growlers with CI foams. Maybe when I get them in I can get going on it.

Change of plans, I'm picking up a unmolested TJ body tomorrow for 10 bucks. Going to build it instead of the comp cut body. I'm getting a wraith chassis and going to put scx10 axles under it on 1.9's. I'll probably use the front off the comp cut body on the wraith chassis.

The tj bodies are much narrower than the wraith chassis, I look forward to seeing how you make it work.

Much better. As soon as the growlers get here I'll get started setting up the chassis and suspension.

Took a cue from skerb and realized the rear shaft and links were going to be short so I moved the skid forward. All unused holes will be filled in.

Built a motor mount and got it mounted, had to flip the shock mounts 180 to get the motor and tranny squeezed in there. Got it as low as I can. Judging by my honcho the links should just tap the mount at full compression. No need for it to ever be at full compression but I do have room to notch it if needed.

As low as I can get the body and still have room for the drivetrain.

Mounted the body hinged on the rear. Mocked up and made lower links for the front. I'll fine tune next week when I get the tires on. Figured out its going to have to have a cms. Got a temporary three link on and I'll work on building the rest of the cms next.

Made mount for the Panhard bar, got it installed today. Won't know about bump steer yet but it cycles smooth. If I have time tomorrow I'll make up a better three link truss and servo mounts.

Got it to roller status.

Wasn't happy with the link geometry so tore it back apart.

Welded the holes in the chassis so I can drill them where I want them. Sandblasted and ready to start fresh.

Picked up a brand new in the pack gcm transfer case for 50 bucks.

2 more days of overseeing physical inventory at work and I'll get back on the build.

Great build so far......I'm really anxious to see where you go with it. Mostly because I'm building it's Evil Blue Vaterra twin....

Are those stock vaterra axles? They tuck under pretty good.

They have been narrowed 6mm each side. 12mm total. Super easy to do with the vaterra axles. Those are also 1.9 slickrock rims. I'm not sure if they provide any difference in offset.

Ok, finally had time to get back on it. Got the tcase mounted, tranny to tcase shaft made, measures and drilled for the relocated skid plate. Found out I didn't leave myself quite enough chassis! After mounting the 3 link and panhard I didn't have enough room for a servo.

Made a low profile 3 link mount and reversed the axle side panhard bracket, opened up enough room for a servo!

Still need to build a servo mount and rear shock mounts, then I can tear all down for paint, sleeve the links, and fine tune the suspension and steering. Then on to the body.
