| Class 1 Rig. Oh What A Feeling........ TOYODER
Ok I need a class 1 rig for next years east coast national's and I love me some Toyota's. I picked up a low use nicely equipped TF2 on our beloved for sale section as a starting point for this build. So here we go.......... Had to toss in a retro toyota add but I think she has better form The day the donor rig arrived at the shop. Removed the body and well done bobbed bed for closer inspection To my surprise the rig came with the popular G2 front shock hoops, 100, 90, 80mm shocks, marlin front bumper and several other items I wont be using. The plans are to build a strong little class one toy that will double for fun trail runs with my girls and their axial rigs. |

Alright, after lubing and shimming the drive train I began putting it back together to emulate a 1.1. I wanted to show everyone were I was at with the cab and the box. Please take mind that everything is still very rough. There is a ton of cutting, welding, and sanding in my future. I just wanted to show my general direction. So far for the suspension I chino'd the front factory leafs with helper springs added to the pack. In the rear I sanded and painted a soft red spring, cut a tamiya main spring where the eye starts to curve and placed it below the red. Front shocks are 90mm with no internal spring filled w/70w and the rear shocks are 100mm no spring, filled with 70w. I have all 4 shocks flipped simply to hold oil. The set up feels pretty good on the bench. |

Looks good how are you mounting the body with the doors removed I've considered removing mine or making them functional.

No doors looks sweet. How much of a pain was it? I like the styrene around the inside of the doorjambs. Gives it good, realistic depth.

I really like the no door look. I have a long way to go on the interior. Right now the doors will fit back on the rig like a glove. I plan on doing more work on the inner door jamb so the doors are off for good. Cutting them off is actually quite easy. I use the backside of an exacto blade (non sharp side) and trace/score the area I am cutting out. This method works very well and makes a super clean cut. You will have to take your time and drag the blade several times across the crease to remove the material. | |
