Hi! Thanks for looking. This build got inspired after I won a set of 1.55 tires and a servo from the AZ shootout. Started with an SCX frame. Hooped and shaved it. Then got mechanical all mocked up.. Fabbed up a rear bumper out of 3/16" DOM tubing. Actually all the fab work is with this 3/16" tubing. Finished up the back bumper and fabbed up a hinging system for the body. Fabbed up the front bumper with a winch mount. Also added a HiLift jack that doubles as part of the body mounting system. The front of the truck is held down by rare earth magnets. Scale exhaust welded in and spare tire mount. Also fabbed up a roof rack for few more points. Got the body painted up... A little patina effect and flattened the outside.. Wipers and mirrors installed Interior installed (Proline PL-C). Fabbed up an interior cage for a few more points. Out on the rocks this weekend. Needs some mechanical tweeks and I'm not real happy with the tires. I'll get all that worked out. It's at a -51 as of now. Not sure how to get those other 9 points without major surgery. That looks great. Nice build. You sprayed the inside of the body with color and then matte cleared the outside? Interested in your paint process on this one.

One other technique I used to make the paint look worn. When painting the color I just sprayed a couple light coats (so it was a little transparent). Then sprayed black behind that. I practiced on some spare lexan first to get the right look. Last edited by THX_138; 08-28-2016 at 10:06 PM. | |

Quick update... Went to a "patina" style wheel and 4.19 Baja MTZ tires. Also narrowed the front axle and converted steering to XR.. Here's the Scaler Hack vids.. Patina - https://youtu.be/2GlI-i9uJGc XR Steering with Narrowed Axle - https://youtu.be/mpghSGsJL4I |
