I am pretty sure I could go buy a 1:1 of that cheaper than having you build me a scale version Looks awesome man! Now where is that diesel bronco durability tester............ |

I dunno, Ben. I know the Scout and the FJ40 are going, probably Tubla Khan, and Buster. Tools, parts. Gotta leave some room in the truck for Andy's rigs, and we might want to bring a change of clothes, too. But this thing is getting a pretty warm reception for spending only $25 on parts, so it might have to go along. I'm not worried about rolling it, since it won't go far enough off the pavement to get in trouble before it gets stuck |

Man, that is awesome, and I don't bullshittle! I love the custom work, but I gotta ask, why did you build what looks like a full-sized camper on a short box/stepside pickup? To me, it's like you've lost all the scale attributes that you are known for. I'm not trying to be a dick, but when it's said and done, that killer scale camper could've set nicely on a High-lift or a Clod body (as examples) and been balls-on with the scale work that you are known for. I don't mean to be overly critical because the work, as a whole, is far superior to what most folks do. But damn dude, that is a Ford shorty and that beautiful camper needs to be sitting on a full-sized scale rig for scale purposes. The shot of it sitting on the custom High-lift is a perfect example. This is just my opinion so feel free to counter me. I'm new to RCCrawler, but not new to the hobby. Also, I'm not new to being critical of work, namely my own. I guess since everyone seems to be pretty free-flowing with the critical analysis, I felt compelled to offer mine. Please check out my own shit and tell me what you think. I'd appreciate the insight from someone who knows what they're talking about. In no way am I dogging your work, I just feel like you're cutting yourself short. I guess when it boils down, most of the posts on this site are along the lines of "Awesome, I've just subscribed," or "Wow, I'm gonna steal that idea," or "Nice... or "That's gonna be my next build," or "What did you use for the siding?" or "Where did you get that body?" or "What tires are those?" or "You should paint it flat black," or "You beat me to it " It seems that too many people only offer quick opinions or ignorant questions without research. They only look to kiss ass and gain quick info instead of offering critical insight. Your skills are undeniable, but that camper doesn't belong on that body in my opinion. Not that I'm any better, because I'm just pushing my own opinions onto you, but since this forum is supposed to be about bettering the hobby, I just felt like offering my own initial thoughts. Take them or leave them. You have great skills, as you've shown in the past. I just hate to see you settling on something that isn't realistic. I don't mean to take away from your build, I just think you can do better by putting that camper on something that holds it better. You can go ahead and send that camper my way, if you feel compelled to.... ...or not. hahahahaha.... Either way, awesome work. I love the details, and there are many. You do great work and I would never, ever, take that away from you. So, honestly, great custom building. I love the crafting, just there's that thing about the scale..... Oh well.... go ahead and tell me to fawk off. It's all good. I just wanted to offer my opinion and see if it sticks. If not, no worries dude. You build great rigs and nobody, certainly not me, can ever take that from you. Rock on and keep up the good work. By the way, Ford sucks. And THAT, is just an opinion. |

Well, that's an easy one. My Clod scaler is my comp rig. And it's starting to get pretty beat. My Hi-Lift body is even more beat. This one doesn't get much drive time because the TTB front end and open diffs make it next to bloody useless. So short box or no, it's a good candidate for a Camper Special. Oh, and fawk off :-P |

I have to disagree with Metalhead... This thing screams early 80's... I seem to recall those camper tops on just about evrything... And the alumacoat on the roof.... Looks like a home repair job, I recall working at a christmas tree stand that had a trailer on site with a roof like that.. my only suggestion is figure a way to model "great stuff" you know the expanding foam insulation? and put a couple of dabs along the corner seems.. Are you going to weather it up a bit? or keep it a shelf queen? Keep going! |

Great job stu.. as always. metalhead. I've seen more then enough rigs that looked identical to this. Even some w/ the camper sticking out about 5' or so. Just be glad he hasn't done this yet. Don't forget your ol' lady. :? http://boortz.com/images/funny/redneck_pics_bikini.jpg |
