| 4X4 Trials Truck
I've been checking out this forum for a while, just mostly reading and learning. But seeing all these cool 1.9 rigs really motivated me to try one of my own. I wanted to try something a little different, and I haven't seen to many of the big offroad trial truck semis out there. Highlift chassis Highlift leafs and shackles Locked TLT axles Tamiya hummer wheels RC4WD 1.9 rock crushers RC4WD rear lockouts HPI wheely king trans - used as a T case Great planes GD 400 gear reduction unit Integy 55T motor Hitec 645MG servo LED headlights Hopefully many more things to come, but so far it's a decent start. So let me know what you guys think. Enjoy! |

I apologize if I'm asking a dumb question, but whats a drag link, lol. If your talking about that bent link on the front axle, thats my steering linkage. And I don't like it either, lol. And I'm open to sugestions to change it, I just can't seem to think of any other way to do it. Anybody got some pics of how they set theres up? Feel free to post them. Thanks for the compliments guys.

yeah that linkage is your draglink... without seeing body off shots i cant really come up with a better idea for it. the steering parts from a high-lift are pretty useful.

So far the gears have been good, I have yet to hear the clicking of the internal slipper. But then again this thing hasn't been used very hard yet. It definatley needs a good work out to get those leafs loosened up too. As for my draglink, dieselfuel, to get the body off I pretty much have to disassemble the entire body, lol. but I'll try to get a better picture from underneath so you can see how my servo sits in there. nice truck. for the drag link try a straight bar with 2 bends in it kind of like this ..._ _/ instead of a curve. (ignore the three dots) |

Looks like a great build for sure. Only thing I will say is that Unimogs and trial trucks like that, never ran leaf springs they are 3 and 4 linked with coils and shocks. |

Yeah, when I was looking for pictures of these types of trucks they all had 3 or 4 link suspensions. but for a first time non-kit build I figured leafs would still work as a passible substitution. Hopefully down the road I can switch it out for a more realistic look. But for now I'm happy with it. I tried bending a link to the shape pointed out above, but the threaded rod kept snapping, that's how I ended up with the big curved one, lol. Is the brass threaded rod a lot easier to bend without it breaking? Thanks for the compliments guys. We got a ton of snow here, so hopefully I can get some good pics of it outside this weekend. |

You could add an extension to the spindle and run a strait draglink to the spindle from the servo. I tried to do a drawing so please excuse the crude pic.

Nice truck ! glad to see one more of this. a bruder body I guess? if you want to increase scale look you can re paint the body it looks better than the blue plastic, add a front grill and windows , a roll cage could also be great here is mine: http://silverridge71.chez-alice.fr/0MAN/man4.jpg http://silverridge71.chez-alice.fr/0MAN/man5.jpg http://silverridge71.chez-alice.fr/0MAN/man7.jpg http://silverridge71.chez-alice.fr/0MAN/man1.jpg I"ll keep following this. |

there's a peice that comes with the TLT-1 truck kit (the TLT axles come with it) that matches what he describes. Its on the far left of this picture and is used in exactly the way he described for you. It has a ball end that screws to the steering knuckle from below, and a ball end with extension that screws to the lower ball end through the knuckle-silver in picture near tire. | |

Thats sweet looking, silverridge. I might have to paint mine now that I see what it looks like. What did you use for a windshield? I bought the whole TLT truck kit for the axles, so I'm pretty sure I have that part floating around somewhere, but thanks anyways pantablo, I appreciate the offer. I think I will try that straight link setup, thanks for the tips guys. And for everyone asking about the bodies, there made by a company called Bruder. You can find some on ebay, or just look for an online toy store. They also make a mercedes version, unimog, and a mack. And I've also seen a jeep wrangler, although I'm not sure what the dimensions are for the jeep, But it could be something somebody here might be interested in. |
