Then backed it all with black.

The front bumper just doesn't look right. It's to big and it looks like a boat side mounted to the front. Plus, if it were a 1:1, it would probably over heat since it blocks so much airflow to the radiator. I am a fan of your work, so I hope you don't take offense. ;-)8)

crawlbe4youwalk 06-24-2008 01:36 AM

I like the front bumper the curves compliment the fenders well. You like white trucks? Dad's old truck looked nice in red!"thumbsup"

Georgerm 06-24-2008 06:39 AM

imo the front bumper looks like a snow plow.

No offence at all, thanks for being a fan,you made me blush.

Maybe it's the pic I took of it. Before I go building a new one let me post some better pics you guys can look at. I think they will look better black too.

This is a more level shot, if it was a 1:1 there's still enough air flow, It would be mostly fan doing the cooling, but how fast do you go on the rocks anyway.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/DSC01508.jpg

Here's a side shot, it don't stick out to far does it. Now you can see how it wraps around like the front of the truck does.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/DSC01504.jpg

Here's one from above, I wanted it to flow with the body and I figured it would slide on the rocks better and protect the body too.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/DSC01506.jpg

I really want your thoughts on it, I don't want you guys saying here comes ROCKEDUP with his boat :ror:, I was out in the garage bending some wire around trying to come up with something else, But nothing yet. If I do make a new one I'll keep this one for this winter to clear the drive. LOL

ROCKEDUP RICKY 06-24-2008 05:46 PM

Here's the tailgate latch I was working on.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/DSC01495.jpg

Then I soldered the chain to the pins.http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/DSC01494.jpg

Then I stuck it threw the latch and wraped it around the stud I solder on the back of the latch.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/DSC01496.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/DSC01497.jpg

Then I put the stud in a hole in the bed and shoe gooed the stud on the inside

Nova's Ark 06-25-2008 11:18 AM

The tail gate latch is too cool"thumbsup". What is the chain made out of? I have had difficulty brazing hooks or chain that were not made of brass. Do you use a different type of flux or solder?

Getting back to the front bumper, the side and top view photos make it look much better and more proportional to the model. The front view still looks a bit off, but what the hell do I know? It's your rig and it is turning out very cool"thumbsup". Maybe a fair lead or some holes in the bumper would change it's appearance if you wanted to.

ROCKEDUP RICKY 06-25-2008 12:52 PM

I'm not sure what the chain is made of, it came from walmart it's a necklace. Same solder same way as always. but it is harder to do some things.

Front bumper, I was thinking of putting a winch hole with some rollers in it. Maybe that would make it look better to yalls .

ROCKEDUP RICKY 06-25-2008 12:57 PM

Here's the winch hole braceysdad wanted me to put in.

But I think it looks like a wench hole ,different spelling Jeff

i think that front bumper looks great just as tubing

AXIAL CRAWLER 06-25-2008 09:02 PM

no hitch?

had to ask:lol:

karlos 06-26-2008 08:08 AM

I think expanded metal would look good on the bumper instead of the plate. The tube work itself looks good. Nice truck!"thumbsup"
